'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

Not buying the season thing with Henry only because in the video the selling point for UT which seems to be getting his attention, is him coming in and help bringing UT back. So he knows UT is not there yet and does not seem worried about it.

If as he says in the video that he is 100% where he wants to go it would only be in UT's favor he announces now. Wherever he ends up he will be a big recruiter for that class. There are alot of players like Walker, Langley, and Kamara all announcing soon that Henry could help pull in for UT. Henry and Walker are friends and hanging out with each other and Henry is in Tunsil's ear which should help whatever team he goes to help bring Tunsil in.

Again not saying where he will end up just disagree with the reasoning. If Henry picks UT it will bebecause he believes the Vols will get better in the 3 or 4 years he is there and that he will be a huge part of that.

As always TW, thanks for the buzz-kill!! But my reasoning sounds much more logical than yours. :)

I mean all of Bama spots are being taken up. It doesn't make sense to wait unless he has told them silently he is going to be a UA commit. It seems that if he and Saban have had that convo, that Saban would have had him commit already. He isn't the kinda guy to hold spots for players. Too many good guys want in there. I think the ball is actually leaning our way, and if we were to some how snag Kamara AND Henry.. whew boy watch out.

the sport talk guys in Chattanooga are saying that Henry tweeted he was going to announce during the TN vs Fl game.

They are wrong, naturally.

Slightly OT, but there was a hilarious tweet in his timeline by a guy urging him to "shock the world and sign at Texas A&M." Made me choke on my beverage.

Sounds like its a UT vs Bama battle for this 5-star.. he downplayed UGA and if he is truly going to announce during the UTvsFL game he may be a VOL lean, but he doesn't want to give it away.

He could be i guess, but the coaches sure arent acting like it. They really dont want him visiting OM.

I thought in the past, the coaches encouraged them to take other visits to make sure they wanted to be at UT. Has that changed? Guess so after the Peter's hot sauce.

Yeah, after the Otha debacle, I am guessing and hoping that the coaches have changed their stance a little bit on encouraging prospects/commits to take their visits.

Technically UA has 7 spots left but probably 9 because it appears that 2 current commits are headed to JUCO atleast to our war room yesterday which goes with what we were hearing already. Out of the remaining spots they have been saved for specific recruits. One recruit(J Cook) was already told the class is done and he could have a grayshirt if he wanted. That was this past week.

has he said that? if it happened at the game he's a vol imo

No, that is just another example of Tennessee sports radio being terrible. His tweet was that he might have to go see the tennessee florida game before committing, and somehow radio turned it into he is committing at the game.

How was it a buzz kill. I said Henry liked the idea of being a center piece to bring back UT and if he commited it was for that reason. To me that is the type of recruit I would want at a program. Someone not afraid to work hard and help bring back the pride. Not the player just wanting playing time or whatever. Just saying.:hi:

No Henry did not. He said he would like to go to the UT/UF game. From there it spread out of control. Even Henry afterwards tweeted people took it the wrong way.

He said he might wait and make his decision after the UT/UF game. He has never seen a game in Neyland and said he wanted to see that one.

EDIT: I see now what you were saying that he didn't say. You were correct. He did not say that he was going to announce during the game; he said he might wait until he goes to that game. Anyway, we're all playing into his hands, imo

Well said! :hi:

I don't buy this bad start to the season talk.

I can tell you this. These RBs are more interested in seeing if our use of the running game is going in the right direction moreso than wins. They'll live with some losses if they see they can put up some legit numbers. If we look lost in our running game through the first few games then we can kiss those elite RBs goodbye.

People on Bama's 247 site seem to be supremely confident they will land Henry. Obviously they feel that way about every recruit, but I was just passing the info along.

I don't think I can get a good read on Henry... he is truly just enjoying the process so far. Really like the attention he is getting.

I can tell you this. These guys are 18 years old and it's July before their senior season and they like the attention. That's it.

Winning cures everything! If we get off to a good start by beating N.C. state and florida,I think we pull kamara or henry(maybe both)!RB and OL are huge needs.Hopefully patrick will qualify.I also think hatcher will flip.

If he was announcing during the UT vs UF game then that would give it away lol.
