Could Tennessee have the fastest offense in the SEC?

I would bet you are right, but that is often all we have to go on in college and when comparing Tennessee to the other SEC teams we just look faster on paper. I read somewhere that Justin Hunter electronically timed a 4.42 in the 40. That means on a good day he could probably run a sub 4.4 electronically. 4.42 electronically timed is smokin' fast.

I agree...low 4.4's is haulin ace timed electronically.

On paper Uga should have won 20 Sec championships. They usually find a way to under perform. Murray makes a ton of major blunders. They just barely beat ut last year when we had nothing.

9-3/6-2 tops.

I am super pumped for this season as well. Who do you see uga losing to? If we lose to them and bama...that means uga is going to have to lose 3 sec games in order for us to win the east. Look at their pansy arse schedule...maybe sc and then who? They will destroy Auburn again and I dont see UF beating them...maybe Mizz? I think our realistic chance of making the dome is to beat uga in Athens...which will be a tall order.

I agree with you, but strange things happen when you play the game.

Sub 4.4- Patterson, Hunter, Neal, Young, Z. Rogers and Watson
Sub 4.5- D. Rogers
Sub 4.6- Lane

These are what I remember. I don't know how many were hand held though.

People throw around 4.4 times and sub 4.4 times like they are fairly common. In fact, they are extremely rare, and I would bet that there are not more than 1 or 2 at most on any team that can do it legit.

I like the confidence...but after looking at uga's schedule...not likely. Uga probably wont lose more than 1 game. We would have to beat them in Athens and I dont see that happening.

It's gonna be interesting in the East this year. I think it's gonna be a race between UT, UGA and USCjr. I think Florida has no chance in hell this year.

40 times are generally unreliable unless they are electronically timed.

That said, UT will be the fastest or one of the fastest O's in the SEC this fall. If Dooley gets credit for nothing else, he should get huge credit for recruiting speed to the O and particularly WR position.

I believe one of his earliest negative statements was that UT's roster was behind in speed and athleticism. IIRC, the only real speed threat on O that DD inherited was Moore.

This.

You go to the NFL combine and it's a graveyard for hyped college 40 times. Around here lots of people assumed Eric Berry was a 4.3 guy. His official combine listing was a 4.47. In the '12 combine there were ZERO RB's that went under 4.40. I'd think if fair to say most would have considered LaMichael James a premier breakaway threat, right? He's credited with a 4.45. Devin Hester? 4.41.

Then there's the really silly stuff. Remember when Laveranues Coles was supposedly able to run a 4.16 coming out of FL St? IIRC he didn't even break 4.4 at the combine.

Honestly other than the assumption that anyone credited with a really fast 40 is probably pretty fleet I almost can't pay attention anymore other than the combine. There's just so little reason to believe the times are credible. Since most guys that are really fast also run (or did run) track I go almost entirely by that anymore. Official track times (note that not all track times are FAT times, at least in HS) are real, verifiable and transferable. (you have to keep an eye on wind legality but at least the actual times themselves are legit)

Just catch the ball, speed is great and all but you don't have to be a speed demon to be a great WR.

40 times are so overrated.

Ha! The point, Skippy, is that as fast as our skill position players are, they guys covering them in league play are just as fast. Next time, have your tutor sit next to you when you're on VN.

My point, Skippy, is you are the most annoying poster on this board. Can't wait to see you disappear when we start winning this year.

UGA was supposed to win it all 2 years ago, and USCjr. came out on top and UGA went 6-6 or something. I think UT can overcome UGA. They have a tendancy to screw up.
