'13 KY DE Jason Hatcher (USCw Commit)

I don't care what the score said - we weren't anywhere close to winning the game in Gainesville. We played well against Alabama but they didn't play their best game. We had a great game against UGA and played pretty well against South Carolina. His Tennessee team's play on the field was more bad than good overall, though.

It's true I don't like Kiffin but this has nothing to do with being butt-hurt about him leaving us. I'm actually glad he left us - we're better off in the long run. The fact is, more often than not, I didn't like his coaching while he was here at Tennessee. I was willing to give him some time to get it figured out but to be frank, apart from a few games his coaching just wasn't very good.

I just don't think it's fair to judge his coaching ability on his one year at Tennessee with lower level SEC talent. He had us in games we had no business being in. Like I said, we can agree to disagree on that if you like.

He did have 3 NFL first round draft picks. Just saying

That's fine, but I think it's too early to be giving him any praise or credit as a "great coach". In his 3 year career as a head coach, he's had a poor year at Tennessee, and 2 underperforming years at SC. Yeah, they won 10 games last year but I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of disrespected coaches out there who could coach USC to a 10-win season with that roster and that schedule.

Bottom line, the guy is negatively recruiting against us and other teams. As somebody else mentioned, he's at USC, why would he even NEED to negatively recruit? I think it's because he's still unproven and questioned as a coach, and he knows it. In any case, there's certainly no need for VOL fans, of all people, to be giving him any undue credit.

Maybe Kiffin should reference his slow developing run play on 4 and 3 against UCLA at Neyland. Maybe one of the worst calls in recent memory

The Kiffin argument is pointless. He didn't stick around to know if we would have turned us around. His hype far exceeds his accomplishments.

He also had a very average Tennessee team on the verge if winning in Gainesville and Tuscaloosa. I notice those examples don't fit your argument, so you left them out.

It's not blind love. I just refuse to discount everything he does even moderately well because I'm butt-hurt over him leaving us in the middle of the night. It seems that most of our fans either love him or hate him and I am not willing to paint myself with such a broad stroke. He is a good coach and a great recruiter IMO. He's also a brash prick as a person. We can agree to disagree if you think otherwise. I'll let his teams' play on the field be my example from this point.

Say what you want the man is a walking NCAA violation and was more unproven then CDD. Al Davis had it rite when it came to Lane. The only talent I will lend any credit to is his recruiting ability. The man can talk BS but he recruits by star ratings not by character. #gladhesgone

We'll see if Hatcher pans out; recruiting has always been a crap shoot. Some guys fulfill potential, others surprise you and inevitably some bust out hard. When it comes to Lane Kiffin, you have to give the devil his due--this guy is an ace recruiter and just might be the best in the business. And everyone forgets he's only 36-37..

What most people on this board have trouble accepting is 90% of these kids don't a give a **** about a program's tradition. As fans, we care and take pride in these accomplishments, but the overwhelming majority of the players couldn't care less. They pick a school based on the staff, playing time and getting prepped for the NFL.

It is what it is.

Maybe you should go join Joe Schad in the Kiffin love fest. Then you, Schad, and Kiffin can have a threesome.

Who else did Silas Redd talk to? So he was reporting what he heard, which was what was actually going on. Not what some guy tweeted.

Don't get me wrong. I don't miss him. I agree that if he stayed we would likely be on probation in the near future if not already.

I'm just not willing to discount his ability because he hurt my feelings by bolting.
