Anthony Fera

UT fan for life I try not to ever bash a Tennessee player..

Do you really believe kick offs out of bounds & no deeper then the 10 yard is good in college football come on man.

I am sorry & am glad you take up for him but he has far from lived up to the hype, I hope he proves me wrong this year.

I can promise you kick offs inside the 10 are by design. Dooley has said so himself. An angled kick that has good hang time and lands inside the 5-10 are done to give the coverage team a chance to get down there. Check the stats, opponents avg start last year I believe was the 18 yard line, so it works.

Any time you are angling kicks some will go out, it happens.

Do you really think Palardy is a good kicker? Honestly. Because I think he is horrid and so does the majority of Vol fans, but hey I am sure we are all wrong and you are right.

The only reason you ever do something like that by "design" is because your kicker lacks the leg strength for
a touchback.

What is so fascinating about the Palardy trashing is that when Palardy signed with Kiffin he was hailed on this board as the greatest kicker ever and would mean 2-3 wins per season. Then when Kiffin left and Palardy stuck with his commitment he was viewed on this board as the Golden Boy of Vol football--a true "man" for holding to his commitment when others were bailing.

Now, the very same board wants the kid tarred, feathered, and run out of town. Makes me read every post about how Couch will make us dominant, Lane is the best back we've had since Jamal Lewis, and James Stone was a 1st round talent with a grain of salt.

You mean to tell me when he signed here as the number one kicker out of high school people were excited, but then when he showed up and sucked people weren't excited anymore? No sh!t sherlock.

Keep on believing that. The kid hit a 52 yard FG against Bama, he has leg strength. He probably can't kick it through the end zone regularly, but most other kickers can't either.

I have seen it said by our coach, but if he said it then its probably not by design right? The goal is to land within the 3. Believe it or not, it works. You will see more of it now that they start at the 25 on touchbacks.

He sucked when he showed up? How many Freshman kickers you see out there? His 2 misses were 42 and 51 as a freshman. Not to mention taking over kick off duties. I see how that sucks.

At the end of the day it is about results and accountability. If you aren't getting it done find someone who will. There can not be emotional attachments when jobs are on the line, that is why Dooley spent a scholarship on Bullock, that is why Dooley is willing to spend another scholarship on Fera, that is why Dooley is willing to spend a scholarship in '14 on the kid out of Marshall County. Sure Palardy is a good kid, but I personally would rather see him kicking down the interstate at UTC. Obviously the coaching staff feels the same way.

Shouldn't be having to spend so many scholarships on the kicking game, shows that we are below average in that aspect of the game

If anything it shows they have no faith in Darr. Bullock is kick off only guy. Palardy to handle FGs and he has been handling punts anyways. 14 kicker being recruited cause Palardy would be graduating

He didn't even have a large enough sample size to judge him either way freshman year. However, last year he did and was second to last in field goal percentage and extra point percentage in the SEC. Also, there were many times that we went for it on fourth down, when with a decent kicker we would have kicked the field goal. Plus, to anybody with a pair of eyes it was apparent that he had trouble getting the ball off the ground on a consistent basis. There were countless extra points that barely made it through because they were so low. Also, how many kickers did you see last year that could not get the ball up high enough that they hit their center in the rearend.

Congratulations, he had a good long kick. However, even a blind squirell can find an acorn every once in a while. What do you expect our coaches to say when asked directly by the media why kickoffs are only going to the ten? Do you expect them to say that we have to due to the limitations imposed on us by our kicker's ability? If the staff was happy with his kickoffs, we would not have recruited a kickoff specialist.

I prefer they go into the endzone..no chance for one to go the distance.

Give me examples of this many times on 4th. Most were 50+ FGs. He missed 1 PAT last year. Conversion is conversion.

Most kicks were inside the 5. Average start was 18. So you are saying it didn't work.

Palardy has handled kick offs, FGs and punts. Can knock him for leg stamina. Been reported many times that Palardy punts better than Darr. Makes sense to bring in someone to relieve him on one to help him improve in others. From all indications, Darr hasn't been cutting it. He was raw coming in and even Dooley said his technique was bad.

But, you know more than Dooley himself so I will go with you. Nothing I have said is my opinion, it is all out there for you to find.

My whole argument is that Palardy, while he has been average as a whole, has the talent to kick. Maybe he shakes what has been holding him back. Hopefully Bullock comes in and booms kick offs like everyone wants. That way Palardy can concentrate on FGs.
