'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Palmer, you guys going to take Green, Kamara, Dye and who else at RB?

I know you are saying this in a smartass way, but I will respond anyways.

We're taking 1 more back. Dye is the most likely. I think we are in great position with Green, but I also think he will wait to long to decide (which is what O'Daniel was referring to in his quote). Kamara is a dawg.

Another one to watch out for is Peyton Barber. He's rated much lower thant the others, but according to my sources, has a commitable offer. We are probably his best offer, and my fear is that he commits before the others, and we're all full at RB. This would be a HUGE MISTAKE. My hope is that we change our stance and no longer extend a commitable offer to him, and let it play out with the others.

Really like his film. Wish we were more involved actively in his recruitment.

Hahaha I actually wasn't being a smartass. Well, not fully anyway :)

I have some Clemson fans in the family and I hear you guys lead or potentially lead for all those guys so turning away a guy like Green seems crazy but they also said you're only taking 1 more RB so I guess that's the plan. I just hope, as a Vol fan, that a RB commits to Clemson soon so UT's chances improve for the others.

Dorian O'Daniel (Top LB, Clemson commit) was interviewed recently on his recruitment of his teammate Kendall Fuller, amongst others, to CU.

"I'm going to talk to Demarcus Robinson more while I'm here, and I know Derrick Green almost commited to Clemson the night I did. He has a top 10 now and hopefully he makes a decision before spots fill up with Robert Nkemdiche's friends."

fyp

Sorry...I had to.

Well, I suppose I didn't really have to, but I wanted to.

Yeah, I got ya.

We have been at least in the lead group for all these backs since day 1 though, so it isn't too far of an exageration from the Clemson side of your family.

I think our coaches knew last year that the Bellamy situation was very volatile, and there was a chance that he wouldn't be here by the time any of these guys stepped on campus. Turns out, that assessment was spot on. We also missed out on both Marshall and Gurly last year to the dawgs, so needless to say, the RB position was a top priority for the staff this year.

We're already full for the 2014 class at RB too, which makes this last spot for 2013 all the more important. A little stress was alleviated with the Commitment of Dalvin Cook, who will be one of the top backs in the country for '14.

I think Dye ultimately signs with Clemson. They have been his leader & it is pretty obvious that is where he wants to play college football, IMO.

I think VT or OSU for Derrick Green.

FWIW, if it's not Clemson, our guys think it is OSU or Michigan for Green.

Not sure what's so funny about that. Not claiming to have any inside information. It's pretty widely known to anyone who follows Clemson recruiting that Barber has a commitable offer and we're only taking 1 more back.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "sources?"

Sorry, just seems like everyone these days acts like an insider. It's hard to differentiate as to who is on a team board, and who is in the team meetings with the team they root for.

Yeah, I agree. I don't know anything you can't find out with a small yearly fee :). I just wouldn't expect any Tenn fans to know or care about anything in regards to Clemson recruiting.

With that, I try to bring some useful information to these recruiting threads, when it's relevant to a mutual target.

I appreciate your Clemson perspective and the info you bring.

Green is getting ready to do his SEC tour. I know he will be at UA and AU in the next week. I think AU will move near the top after the visit. Only reason coming to UA is because good friend H Fisher(VT commit) is camping and UA may be able to flip him. UGA offered Green last night and heard he might add them to the trip. I can not remember what other schools he is visiting, but it seemed like a big trip and to some of these schools for the 1st time. He has been to VT, UM, and OSU many times. I would expect his top group to change after the trip. JMO.

Thanks, I enjoy coming over here. By far the best recruiting board I have seen. I am happy to contribute in any way that I can.

You do a good job of keeping your cool when being harassed for your Clemson allegiance. If possible, keep it up and VN will be a good experience.

kid is one those type of backs that every offensive scheme needs. gets those tough yards and wears down a defense

Yeah, I'm guilty of that. Probably crossed the line with some comments the other day. Palmer, I apologize for the harsh words. Haven't seen you post anything inflammatory thus far, and I was out of line.
