'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

Has he ever said when he's looking to make a decision? Is it before his senior season, wait until NSD, etc.?

According to TideWarrior's sources, he was going to de-commit from Georgia after his trip to Bama (which he did), and then commit to Bama some time around the first part of July before The Opening (I think). TW, correct me if I am wrong. I don't think that he will be committing any time soon, IMO. He is coming to our camp in July, as he wants to see what it would be like to be coached by CJG. Could get interesting after that. It's coming down to a battle between Bama, Georgia, and UT...will be a tough pull for us, considering the other 2 programs' stability and success compared to ours at this point in time. Hopefully, CJG will wow him and can knock this one out of the park to land him. GO VOLS!

Gonna have to sell playing time and position. It'll be difficult, but possible.

Yep I think if we can convince him to stick at RB and that we are his best chance at it we might could sway him

Pretty sure bama worked him out at HB at their camp/visit.

SN: read an article on him in the last day or two that said he is 6'2. I was thinking in the past I had seen him listed at 6'4.

6'2 isn't horrible for a RB. ESP a kid with his athleticism and speed

Regardless if he commits or not, I see this one coming down to signing day. This kid needs to realize his best fit is running back. He's an absolute bruiser with freakish athleticism.

Fortenberry said he thinks it's a UT/Bama battle and right now Henry likes Bama a lot.

^^^^
THIS.
The only reason we are in this against Alabama is because he trusts our coaching staff about a legit shot at running back, likes the atmosphere, & new facilities.
Watch him to be at the Alabama game here. The surprise will not be that he waits until signing day.

regardless of what others are saying, the kid and his coach has stated publicly that bama has recruited him at RB from day one and thats the position he wants to start his career. he worked at other positions during the camp but RB is where he wants to be. getting moved to another position when he gets on campus if he doesnt pan out at RB is a different story. im not a fan of silent commits but there is a reason for it and thats what im hearing he is. of course some will never believe that, but it is what it is. He would see the field sooner at RB for UT but of course he is looking at more factors than depth chart.

Shortly after Henry's decommitment the rumors began swirling. Was he going to flip from Georgia to Alabama? And if he does flip to the Crimson Tide did he agree to change positions?

Henry laughs at it all while placing an emphasis on his position of choice -- running back.

"I've never had a conversation with a coach about playing anything other than running back," Henry said. "It's funny to hear all these people talking when they really don't have any idea what's going on. It's funny but it also gets frustrating because there's never been a question about my position at all."
