'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

Hmmm...I wonder which team that doesn't really need him will get him: Bama or Georgia? It's exciting, isn't it, folks?

Diva. Id rather have Green or Kamara or Dye. "I will decide soon whether or not to decide." "I will make a statement soon."

This guy is #1 on my overall board. Whoever gets him is getting an NFL RB. He needs to watch his weight but if he can stay at or below 245 he will be a monster in college.

I don't think any of them compare to what I've seen from D Henry. And I don't think he's any more "diva" than some of his highly rated peers.

Green is my #2 RB right now...

Alabama already has Tenpenny (very good RB) in the fold so I don't know why D Henry is ignoring our depth chart and RB situation. I think our focus on the passing game and lack of running game last year really hurts us recruiting power RBs right now. Alabama can just turn on the film and show Henry what he will be doing. Makes it tough.

easy for Henry to do that against his comp. When he faced Buford last year they stopped all that.

He had over 500 yards rushing and 6 TDs in the state championship game. I would assume that was a pretty good team he was playing. I don't want to hear that garbage. He had 2600 yards and 30+ TDs. So not many people "stopped all that".

And Tyren Jones. They have plenty of RB's already there too. Yeldon is in his first year and might turn out to be the best of the bunch. All these backs can't play at the same time. Maybe he wants to watch from the sideline early.

what state championship did Henry play in? Yulee has NEVER played in a state championship

he played in 2A ball before the reclass last year and against his 3 toughest teams(FCHS, Buford and Gainesville) who were larger class/better talent he didn't do anything.

What is the deal with him and the Florida schools? No interest from him , or them?

That came from zomobo.net... maybe it's trolled info. But I know his stats were right.

And he had 113 yards (of his team's 150) and a 76 yard TD against Buford (so basically yeah other than the long TD run not much but still 113 and a TD is statistically not "shut down).

FSU and UF won't allow him to play RB. Not even sure UM offered.

I figured that was the problem. If he doesn't end up at the right place , this thread will be bumped in about a year that he has changed positions , or transfered. He doesn't seem like the type that will be happy if he doesn't get his way.

I hope you were not a K Marshall fan because I saw him and against bad teams he struggled.

Not speaking for UF but I doubt that about FSU especially since they recruited Wilder to be a RB and Henry is a better RB than Wilder.

And again in camp this weekend he spent Sat running plays as a HB/WR and has trimmed down atleast 10lbs according to someone working the camp.

Wilder was more about Jimbo beating Urban for a Gator lock than his talent at RB. If it wasn't for some injuries last year he wouldn't have seen those 30-40 carries he got during the season. FSU have already over recruited him with Pender, Yearby and maybe with Ryan Green and lex Collins this year.

I don't have any opinion on the competing with Urban, but your comment about over recruiting Wilder doesn't make sense. Yearby won't be on campus until Wilder is a Senior, Green and Collins wouldn't get there till his Junior year.

Also, Wilder is 6'2" 220 and Freeman is 5'8" 200, so Wilder is 6" taller than Freeman and much bigger so they're not the same type of backs. Pender is only 190 and hasn't played a down of college ball.

Wilder will be 3 string at best this season and when Green or Collins show up they most likely pass him on the depth chart. He'll end up being moved or just a short yardage back like Samuel. IF Wilder is FSU starting RB they have some issues this year. jmo

I can agree with the 3 string comment, but FSU only has Thompson(senior) who broke his back last year, and then Freeman(soph), Wilder(soph), Pender(frosh) at RB. We are thin at RB. It's difficult for frosh RB's to contribute at FSU because Jimbo gives them a decent amount of blocking responsibility and many freshman just can't learn the protections quick enough. That being said, Pender had a whole spring practice to get started learning, so you may be right re: Wilder. He's getting an honest shot at RB though, and that's what he wanted.

If anyone watched the Plant - Manatee game two years ago you could see Wilder's shortcomings as a RB...and LB. Against good competition he didn't impress. Watching that game it looked as though he was a freak athlete who didn't really enjoy the game of football and the physicality it entails.
