HBO's "Game of Thrones"

I really wished Arya would have left with Jacquen to become a badass assassin. He was definitely one of my favorite characters this season.

The on-screen tension this season with Arya and Lord Tywin was awesome, I think they were some of my favorite scenes of the show so far.

Book Spoiler Alert:

I'm about 2/3rds through the 2nd book and that didn't happen in the book. I'm just now at a part where it appears she will be the serving girl for someone from the Stark side that took Harrenhall after Tywin left.

This is one of those times where it just clicked for me. It was such an on-screen chess match and was just brilliant.

I don't think I even COULD spoil anything because they left so much hangin. But, yeah, I am thinking seriously about getting HBO before the next season.

it costs like 6 million per episode. fairly cheap for a hit show. so it seems like 2 more episodes per season wouldn't be that big of a deal.

'The Battle of the Blackwater' was a mighty spectacle indeed, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the series co-creator David Benicoff had to admit "we went pleading to Hbo for more money". We made our case why we needed the battle and they obliged."

I think it's just a case where HBO is trying to be as prudent as possible with the show. I'm sure they realize how popular it is for them but they are still interested in keeping the costs down when possible.

As Milo mentioned earlier, Rome was also a popular show but I think their budget eventually ballooned up to $9+ million per episode and there was a lot of criticism that they handled it poorly. I remember reading articles where the CGI people on the show were surprised at the amount of time and money spent on costumes and sets for things that could have been done quicker and cheaper with computers.

I done a quick search and saw that in the 1st week the box set sold 350,000 copies. not sure how many have sold up to this date.

for example: Walking dead done a 6 episode season to see how much interest was in it. last season was around 24 episodes. HBO knows there is interest in the show, and they have to be gaining subscribers just because of this show alone.

Yes, this show is very popular and it makes a lot of money for HBO. But they want it to have as wide a profit margin as possible just like any other business.

Do I wish that they would consider expanding each season to 12-13 episodes? Absolutely. But I don't know how likely this is.

I'm reading the corresponding book after each season so the show isn't spoiled for me. The first book is the shortest(by far) and the third book is the longest out of the first four(I haven't picked up the fifth book so I'm not sure about that one). So maybe they expand the third season to 12 or 13 episodes.

Also, your reference to the Walking Dead isn't entirely accurate. Yes, the first season was only six episodes long but the second season was not 24 episodes, it was 13. That is a grand total of 19 episodes for that series.

Also, the Walkind Dead did not have any extremely massive set pieces in the first 2 seasons like GOT has had. The vast differences in locations(desert, grass lands, frozen wasteland) leave the budget for GOT all the more stretched.

would you stop crushing my dreams of extra episodes. jeez.:gun:

read all the books.a great series, waiting for the next book.the shows are cutting alot of the book though.if you're going to do a show on something atleast try and stay as close to the storyline as possible.

i enjoy the show though.

Was interesting that this was the title of the final episode even though it was seemingly a small part of the episode. I'm guessing it is a larger part of Book3 or later (don't tell me).

I'm about to finish Book 2 (should be this week)

alright. Sparty isn't a book reader, but will be getting book 3. Going to start reading at this spot in the story

Can't imagine jumping into Book 3 after just watching the first two seasons. I can't even keep the names straight from the book I'm in.

read the books starting from episode 1or book1.they try to follow the story but alot of things in the book 1 are'nt in the show.
arya is a great character.daenerys stormborn ,bran, and jon snow are my favorite.

Speaking from almost finishing Book 2; Season 1 was much closer to Book 1 than Season 2 was to Book 2.

Character-wise, Bronn is my favorite.

I plan on it. I admit, i just now have put all the pieces together. Watching on dvr over a day or two makes it more difficult to follow, and I'm terrible with names anyway.
