Questionable taking it this early, but I'd go with the coaches. At worst he can be the next Henderson/Redding

Are you saying that he is not good enough because enough schools haven't offered or are you saying that we could have taken him later if we couldn't get better prospects?

I assume were taking him now because the coaches feel good about his ability.

Exactly..were at a point now the coachs can be more selective and if they are accepting them now then they must like him and hes fast.

@DanieLewisUTCBS: Santa Monica JC was a stop for NFL receivers Chad Ochocinco, Steve Smith and Isaac Bruce.

Were at a pointt now where we dont have to take players for depth so the coachs obviously like him and he runs in the 4.4 range.

There's an article on Scout about him. It starts with saying he's a player people need to keep their eye on, but I have no idea about the rest. Any subscriber care to summarize?

Not sure if I understand this.

The UT coaching staff is obviously better at evaluating talent than me, but I just don't get taking Comas' commitment at this point.

He might turn out to be a fine WR, but I think UT could have waited to take his commitment. UT is in on much better HS and JUCO WRs and it isn't like other teams have been knocking down his door to commit. He is a JUCO guy who is going to redshirt with his best offer being from Idaho.

Not questioning the take, but I'm definitely questioning the timing of it. I just hope this isn't an indicator of UT's status with other WR prospects.

Is this one of those we might recruit over? Seems small at 170, and has a pretty slim offer list. Hopefully he's just one we got to first, but it seems early to take a commitment like this. I have ZERO clue how to evaluate talent though, so maybe he really is a take.

Tennessee came to my practice last week and I talked to coach Hinshaw, Comas said. "He broke Tennessee down for me and gave me a bunch of information and I was ecstatic about everything. Then later I told coach Hinshaw I wanted to commit and he had me get on the phone with coach Dooley and tell him." Scout

I'm sure the staff likes him to take his commit but it's a little early for Juco WR? I have know clue who you staff feels good about but some solid WR named in their top 5 atp.

Saw his MaxPreps High School profile and he was listed at the No. 2889 profile nationally. So very lightly regarded out of high school and now out of JC. I trust the coaches know what they're doing and saw something. Hopefully, it's that they didn't see because he's so fast.

JMO but another questionable pick up by this staff this Spring, they have a knack of taking very questionable commitments early. Maybe it's their way of trying to build a little momentum, idk.

Comas, Campbell, & Zanca are all questionable takes at this stage. I can easily see them being recruited over if we have a good season. Just like Cross, Henderson, & Redding were last year & Power & Parker were the year before.

Our coaches were the first in on CP. I'm not saying this kid is the same caliber as CP, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts picking up a lot of offers from BCS schools in the near future.

I doubt all 3 of those guys end up signing. We will probably take another commitment or two that won't end up signing. I think Campbell sticks around based on everything I've heard (if his grades are okay, which I don't know the answer to that right now).

I agree. I hope UT has a strong, successful season and recruits over these questionable commits.

Only one I would like UT to keep is Campbell.

Just got off the phone with Kris and he said that he committed to Tennessee earlier in the spring but that his dad wanted to back off that and his father just wants Tennessee to answer a few more questions before they publicly say Kris Comas is committed.

He loves Tennessee, believes he will end up there, but right now he wants to hold off on saying he is committed until his dad talks to Tennessee coaches another time and have a few questions answered.

After that he said he'll be the next Vol. But, at this time he asked not to be listed as a commit.
