proud for my boys getting their gray belts in bjj. Lots of hours to step up one belt, but they love it. Btw, the one on the left is autistic, and this has had a tremendous impact on him and his confidence.

That is great Sparty..Good looking boys. My neighbor's kid is autistic and loves Tennessee football so usually end up giving them my season tix for games I am unable to go to Knox. He is a die hard fan and loves everything orange. He comes over just to look at some memorabilia and stuff I collected over the years of Tennessee football. I am a sucker and have given him almost half of it just too see how happy he is to decorate his room in Orange. He is a bright boy with a good future he just turned 10.

We are fortunate and blessed. My wife broke down that day Vanderbilt told us, and I was scared, but he is a wonderful kid and doesn't have serious physical or mental issues as some autistic kids do. The majority of parents have it worse than us, and that's whether a kid is autistic or just a brat. Spence is just a little different.
Never thought for one day he'd make a kid tap from a choke in a match, or spin out of a nasty arm bar, but his mind has devoured the steps and techniques used in BJJ and it's the first sport he's been able to play at a competitive level. He loves ball and can throw a football beautifully, but team sports passed him really early. This has been another blessing to us for him.

My advice would be to keep all options open. I have made my kids try all activities and let them stick with one or two that they like best.
