"Yes, sir - No, sir" :furious3:

I know it is polite and good manners but I hate it. It makes me feel real old. Anybody else hate it?

And I like it because it shows someone is trying to teach and someone is learning. Not enough of that going around with parents and kids.

I don't get it very often because I look young, but I don't mind it all if I do. I'm glad there are kids that are still polite and respectful. I'll dress a kid down for being a jerk or disrespectful to an adult, if it's egregious, and not even give a flip if their parents are right there.

I was raised to treat people with respect. Refering to my elders as sir or ma'am came standard.

If someone responds to you with a courtesy and it makes you fell uncomfortable then you are probably just getting fat.

It is respect... something that is getting lost very fast in this society. Enjoy it while it is still around

since most teenagers are rather stupid and mean spirited, I take any show of respect by one with a grain of salt, since I'm pretty sure that once I'm out of earshot they say, "hey, did you see that fat bastard that just walked by?" to their equally dumbass friends.

Women where I work rarely say thank you when I hold the door open.
The men will say thanks almost all the time.

Becoming more true. I hold doors for everyone and many women say nothing. Then I will usually say, "you're welcome" anyway to make a point.

I always say "thank you." I think it is nice when anyone holds a door, but especially a man. Everyone knows this is how you get into a chick's pants.

That's because of all the entitlement these days. They expect it and bad mouth you if you don't.:whistling:
