The Runner's thread

What are the advantages of Accelerade/Cytomax/Endurox? All I ever use and have ever felt the need for was Glutamine powder mixed into my water. It works for long distance runs, crossfit and weightlifting workouts.

Bill! you know we have a crossfit thread....it's kindof dead. I'm in week 14. love it.

Accerlerade is supposed to help you work out or run longer and recover quicker. I have taken three servings of Accerlerade so far and I can tell a difference on my recovery.

I used it last night and that was the first time since I have been taking it that I could tell an actual difference during my run. I felt strong through out the run and at the end felt like I could have ran a longer distance than I did

Did a threshold workout down at Tom Black this morning. Felt really good. Set out to do 4X1000 at a 4:15 pace ended up doing 5X1000 at an average of 4:08ish. Could have done more but I didn't want to push it.

Also, bought some new shoes online today. Ordered some Saucony ProGrid Guide 4's from amazon for 50% off. There an older model but had pretty good reviews and I've always heard good things about Saucony. Still have about 150 miles left in my asics so I'll slowly rotate the new ones in.

How many miles do you generally put on a pair of shoes?

I will check into both because I was really wanting something mainly for recovery.

Besides being lighter on your stomach is there a big difference in ingrediants between Accerlade and Cytomax?

I've never compared the ingredients. I dont think Cytomax has protein which is what makes it lighter. I use GU or Clif Shots with Cytomax & I didn't with Accelerade. So it might have less calories. I think Cytomax prevents the burn in my quads better than Accelerade but that could just be imagined.

300-500.

When I get to 300 I usually go ahead and buy a new pair then rotate them in while still using the old ones primarily. I just passed 300 on my asics last week and they still feel like they have plenty of life to them.

Good day today. Woke up not wanting to run this morning at all and ended up leaving an hour later than I meant to. Had to force myself to get out of my car then onto the trail. Thought I would have to keep pumping myself up during the run to not turn back early.

Turned out that after about a mile in I was feeling much better. Was planning on doing six but I ended up doing 7 instead and at ~10 sec faster per mile than I intended.

I have said it before... some of my best times are days that I didn't really feel like running.

I am the same way though.. after about a mile into a run I start to feel better and after the run is over I am always glad I forced myself to go.

Used my fourth serving of Accerlade last night. I really like the way my legs feel during and after my runs using this stuff. I am impressed. Going to continue to use it until this bottle is out. (I got the stuff from my brother-in-law and it wasn't all the way full when I got it.)

Another serving of Accerlade and still seems to be working. I would recommend it to someone if they were looking to help with recovery but I will say, like Tri-Vol said, it can be heavy on your stomach. I have found that I have to drink it at least 45 mins before my run for it to not effect my run.

Where do they sell that these days? I used to see it in Publix but not any longer.
