He reminds me of Jerry Jones, thinking he knows all about the pro sports business instead of the business that got him rich. Successful sports franchises have general managers that know the business and the owners let them do their job.
Eggxactly! Michael Heisly, the Grizz owner, started out wanting to have his say so but learned his lesson when he insisted on signing Allan Iverson for ticket sales and that blew up in his face. He then hired Chris Wallace from the Celtics, let him manage the team and now they have a damn formidable team with serious depth.Very true. As a Cowboys fan Jerry drives me crazy. Wish he would just sit in his box and sign checks.
One man drove you away?
I hear ya. Wasn't a huge Cowboys fan but respected the hell out of the organization. When Jones came in and fired a legend in Tom Landry I knew this guy was a crazy egomaniac.I was always a big Cowboy fan and it had to do with the coach and the players. When Jones took over and fired Landry, it pissed me off. Especially, bringing in the slick headed prick from Miami. The touch was in '94, when his boy toy, Michael Irvin, told him he needed to make a choice between him and Alvin Harper. When Harper walked, so did I. So, it was actually '94. Haven't watched since.
