The Runner's thread

Enter a 5k. When you get your adrenaline going in a race it is very easy to push yourself beyond your perceived limits. Also, like crazy said, add speed training. Try some 4X800 track workouts at a 3:12-3:15 pace with 200m jogs in between sets.

I have ran in two 5k's so far. Looking for another one here in the near future. I have done some track workouts but looks like I need to increase to get my speed up. Thanks for the input

Great time in the 1600. You should work on your speed, though. With a sub 5 16 you should be going a bit faster in the 8. Or not running the 8 at all and doing 16 and 32 doubles in your meets.

I ran my 2nd lap in 1:09 and made up a lot of ground. My start in the 8 was terrible because they put way to many people in the same race. And they didn't have the 32 in this meet. I did the 8 instead. My 16 was really fast because i paced with a couple really good runners. I was able to stay with the top 3 until 300 meters to go. The winner was in about 4:43.

5K tomorrow. Cash prizes too. 2,000 for 1st, 1,000 for second, and 500 for third, but there is a catch. You have to eat a burrito during the race. It's the Moe's Burrito Dash

I hate when they put too many people in the race. Makes for a cluster f*** of a start. I also hate when they don't run a 32. That was my favorite race in HS track.

Broke out the short shorts for the first time since HS. Ran the first 2 miles in 14:15. Then realized I needed to settle down a bit and went back to a comfortable pace. I think when I wear the short shorts my subconscious tells my body to run faster so I don't look too silly in them..

4 miles tonight in my neighborhood at 7 mins 10 secs per mile. My fastest pace yet. Felt so good. Hope to get under 7 mins soon

Did 10k this morning along the harbor. On the last 1k of my run, there were dolphins swimming right beside me. It was awesome.
