Depends on what we're being asked to consider... late 70's early 80's Dave? Or 2012 Dave?

I'll take Sammy over 2012 Dave.... but no one could touch Diamond Dave back in the day.

Can we vote for Gary Cherone?

Lyrically, I'd go with Roth. Musically, I'd go with Hagar. The band wrote their strongest material during the Hagar years because he could actually sing along to the music.

5150 is great (still listen to it, Good Enough = b.a.), but For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is awesome from front to back.

One thing about the Van Hagar years, they were always consistent. Diver Down was horrible.
