Maybe Dooley is tired of Cutcliffe getting all the PR (recruiting) mileage from the Peyton Lottery?Jonathan Hutton ‏ @hutton1045
Hearing #Titans and Manning will be in Knoxville tomorrow morning for the workout. Thx to @brentdougherty for assisting with info.
IMO, this is a strong indication he is leaning toward Tennessee.
That has me wondering if the Titans aren't dangling the Saturday "carrot" to try and further entice Peyton? I figure he probably has a few years left in the tank as wellHarris is way better than Amano. IF we would have signed a Center, Amano would have been cut. many analysts have said this. It's a shame Wells got away. I thought he was a sure thing.
Ok, TITAN fans, here's a question....
If we get Peyton, and it almost completely depletes this years salary cap, do you still want him?
I say yes!!!!
We have already gone "all in" here and this has to happen IMO. We have brought in a few men, signed one (which is a total upgrade), but missed out on most of the big names which have signed elsewhere. This team drafts REALLY well, so we can for sure bolster our defense via the draft, or possibly even Freeny who is still available (yes I know the Colts might not want to trade him to the same division). Also Satele is still a viable option as a free agent center, which would be an upgrade over Amano. The pieces are here, we need Manning to take us from a pretender, to a contender.
I'm not sure how much of the Bonuses gets figured into the annual salary cap, but they normally front load or on the back end, dump much of the contract, so that they can keep the cap number much lower. We are about 30mill under the cap now, and Peyton's deal will probably be worth about 18-20mill/yr. Then you have a new rookie salary limit, which brings the price tag WAY down from previous years.I'm fairly certain that if peyton "completely depletes this year's salary cap" there's no money to sign draft picks.
