Titans Owner Bud Adams wants Peyton Manning

No a majority of Titans do not want this to happen, it is going to set the team back.

How? That statement doesn't make any sense. The Titans don't have to give up any draft picks to sign him. Cut Hasselbeck and bench Locker for a couple of years. I really don't see what's so bad about this. Enlighten me.

NO.

This franchise is heading in the right direction, and wasting money on a 36-year-old PM would absolutely screw everything up.

lol - no. Signing Peyton wouldn't negatively affect the direction in any way. If we could get him in here it would be worth it. Locker doesn't have to go anywhere.

It gives us a chance to win immediately - obviously that guy wants to sign some bigger needs and that's understandable - but Peyton can win with a bad defense.. he did it almost his whole time at Indy so its definitely worth the shot.

Seriously guys... Peyton isn't going to pick the Titans.

True. He's signing with the Broncs. However, the Cards will get him IF Wayne follows Peyton thus giving him another Wayne-Harrison type combo. Still, I say the Broncs because they have the defense to make scores stand game to game. Elway shouldn't trade Tebow but instead use him as a backup QB and a FB/TE hybrid. For all who mock him, Tebow is a competitor, tough (in both high school and Denver he played with broken bones), and no doubt he runs hard. In a nutshell, I think the Broncos have the elements in place to go all the way with a proper field general at QB. I think PM is smart and knows this so will sign with them. That mess in Miami with Bush and company isn't worth PM wasting his time putting out fires instead of establishing records and winning another SB. Trust the word of one who knows.

He's senile?...and you can't figure out that Manning would displace Hasselbeck? I'd have to question your intelligence before his

I couldn't agree more. Some people on here talk about how signing PM would cost us so much money. The fact is that PM doesn't need the money, and if he's smart he would sign a small contract that gave the team room to sign additional players of need to compete now. PM doesn't need to go anywhere where he would have to be 80% of the team...they need players that can help him rather than pull an Indy. And for those wanting PM, the fact is that the Titans don't deserve PM..plain and simple.

This. I cannot believe the amount of people that think Finnegan is worth re-signing for the amount of money that he wants. Can get alot of comparable CB for alot cheaper.
I agree...if you remember the little episode where he left camp one day due to a contract dispute, it was when the Titans offered him a 4yr/$28mill deal. That was a VY type of move and that is probably what soured the Titans on him. Chris Johnson's deal is an average of about $8-9mill/yr over the duration of the contract. Does Finnegan really think he deserves that kind of deal? No freakin way. CJ had a lot more leverage against the Titans (nobody in the draft, free agency and definitely on the roster runs close to a 4.24/40).

Peyton's worth isn't in how well he plays the position as much as it is how he makes everyone around him a better player. Wayne, Stokley, and Garcon wouldn't fare nearly as well on another team. Nor would the Colts offensive line look as stellar as they did if Peyton wasn't able to out-think the defense and get the ball out before the defense could get to him.

Locker would be a great insurance policy and would likely get a lot of clean-up duty in the 4th Qtr. Plus, the Colts would usually have the division wrapped up so early, that the backup would play the last 2-3 games.

Do you even realize that dropping Hass doesnt relieve the Titans of his salary against the cap??

The Titans have a little wiggle room with the cap. It could be done, it's just not a very smart move imo.

If you sign Peyton, you'll probably sign Saturday and Wayne too. That's 3 vets with not a lot left.

Bud Adams wants Peyton bad and is willing to pay top $$! The Titans have a good O-line that doesn't give up a lot of sacks. Peyton has a home in TN and no state income tax. Other than that, I don't see him wanting to come here.

my thoughts are that I would cheer against Peyton for probably the first time ever

And my thoughts are I would cheer for Peyton, for the first time since he graduated.

Were you a pre-Manning colts fan, pj? I think it's funny that most became Indy fans because of Peyton. Then, as rivals to the Titans, they developed a hatred for the Titans, and now they hate them too much to root for them as the "logical" choice, being in state, with Peyton gone.

If Peyton had been drafted in the NFC, I bet 90% of his fans would now be Tennessee fans. Hell, they probably would have been Titans fans the entire time, like many Peyton fans were also Titans fans, somehow.

Similar question- were you an Oilers fan?

I was not really an NFL follower until he was drafted. I watched every Colts game that season and picked them. I'm also an AZ Cardinals fan since I lived less than 2mi from the stadium and went to most of their home games for over 6 years.

hating the titans has nothing to do with the "rivals" thing. As I've said many times, I still hold a grudge from comments made by them about UT when they got to TN. IMO there's only one football team in the state worth following

1)Peyton Manning>>>>>Locker>Hasselbeck.

2)Merchandise Sales/Ticket Sales.

Why wouldn't you want Manning on your team? Are the Titans not immediately better at the QB position if they sign him?

He loves Tennessee, but he's looking for the best odds to win a Super Bowl or two in the next three or so seasons.

It's not about money or sentimental stuff... just championship potential after adding him to the roster.

a super bowl in denver? They've got ZERO good receivers, as far as I know. yea, they can a free agent, but not quite the same. Wayne might join him--but Wayne is 34 and past his prime. Same with Clark. They're both great--but getting old. Saturday is past old.

And being around Manning didn't make them worth a damn either. That's the point. I'm not knocking Peyton.
Nobody said he could walk on water...or turn a frog into a Prince. Your insinuation that he didn't help guys who didn't even belong in the league, become productive backups is just as ridiculous.

1. for how long? at 36 his career is on the back end. Locker's is just beginning. The real question is the $ value of PM versus Hass worth it. How many wins will an injured PM give vs a healthy Hass. If Indy is willing to part with him then there might be a little bit to the injury. It could have an impact on concession sales though as more ticket holder would go to the game instead of just eating the ticket

2. Merchandise? sure. Ticket Sales - no. Big NO. Very few tickets go on sale due to the PSL requirement to buy full season tickets. There are enough PSL ticket holders that even if the remaining tickets did not even sale the games would not be blacked out due to seating.
