Go a head ask away

The class I had the big test in today is all about the American South. The professor is a PhD and has never taught the class to underclassmen before, so he's super hyped on making it challenging. His specialty is urban (re)development, processes of racialization, landscape studies, contested notions of identity and justice studies.

We didn't have to buy a textbook, but rather 3 books regarding race and the South, as well as a ton of published journal articles from researchers. Thus far, we've talked a lot about plantations and slavery, and their role in shaping America.

Question he posed the other day...do college athletics, specifically football and basketball, still seek to commodify black males, particularly in the South?
