I think Bruce Pearl and his staff have proven they are deserving of raises. Coach Pearl currently makes a little over $1 million/year. In 2 years, been to the NCAA Tournament twice and now a Sweet 16 run with 4 freshmen playing significant roles. I think it's time for Mike Hamilton to pony up and make sure this guy is locked down before a program comes in offering about $2 million a year (eh hem, Michigan). If Phil Fulmer is deserving of an extension (which basically is a raise long-term) after the product he put on the field in the Outback Bowl and 9 wins, then Bruce Pearl most definitely deserves a raise/extension after this season.
If a winning percentage padded by getting three games a year against Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Kentucky is your idea of greatness, TCHFCATUTK is superb. However, if you believe that the number of championships a coach wins and his record against elite competition is the true measure of a coach, not so much.So CPF, recordwise, is one of the best coaches around

Which applies perfectly when you are comparing apples to apples. Without placing things in their proper context, Chris Petersen is currently the best coach in college football if one only looks at percentages. When deciding who gets the nod between Bowden and Spurrier, the head to head record speaks for itself. Just as it does when the question involves TCHFCATUTK and Darth Visor.Yet you say, "You are what your record says you are".

What's Pearl's record against Florida? Texas? Memphis? Then, compare that to the record Haystacks has against top 10 competition since 2000. That's the point I'm making. Beating bad teams means nothing to me. Show me what you do against elite competition. But Pearl beating Copin State, Tennessee Tech, and Western Kentucky (and you can find more cupcakes) doesnt count as padding?
Almost every college coach is gonna have cupcake games. So you really cant hold it against one coach and not another.

Well, that's really two different questions. First, I always thought we should have taken a page from FSU's book and absolutely assaulted the QB when we played Spurrier's teams. If the hits were a little late, so what? Against Meyer, I've felt we didn't throw the ball down the field enough in either game. I will grant that the '05 team just couldn't execute in the passing game. However, to beat quality teams, you have to make big plays. You've probably done this before hat but if you were CPF what would you do differently to have success against the Gators in a nutshell?
