Better "Big Game" coach: Pearl or Fulmer?

Listen it's obvious that Pearl has made basketball relevant agin on the Hill...to compare him to Fulmer is just ludicris in my mind...we are all fans of UT sports on here so to start comparing coaches and jabbing at one while putting another one up serves no purpose and if you have Fulmer and Pearl together I GUARANTEE you that they say the same thing...

85 vs 12...

Lose one player in football and compare that with one lost player in basketball.

Why even compare depends on the player. Pearl has worked wonders for our basketball team. He motivates and I was totally proud of yesterday's performance. They are doing something we are not use to in Tennessee basketball. Hustling, playing with intensity, passing the ball and pressuring the ball. They are intense. They do lack swagger at times but that will come with confidence and maturity.

Better yet a better comparision would be Pat Head Summit versus Bruce Pearl.

Compare Fulmer to a Urban Meyer.

Apples to Apples ==== Oranges to Oranges.

Totally agree.

I hope he is not the IRAQI Minister of Information and why adopt someone with such high creditability. That thoroughly explains this thread and its Significance.

Might ought to go check the Knoxville Airport for American Troops or UVA Fans.

Read above. Just realized who I am dealing with. Not very creditable. LOL.

The russians are coming and the sky is falling. I am just sitting back and having fun with this one.

We have got great coachs of which unfornately we will get rid of when we use them up. Fortunely we have Mike Hamilton as an AD who seems to be doing the right thing at the right time.

Fulmer, no question. Every single football game is a do or die situation. Pearl is 2-4 in win or go home situations (I am counting the Butler loss this year.)

Fulmer's record against top ten teams is not any better I guarantee it. And if you don't think the Memphis, second Florida, and second Kentucky game weren't big games, you have issues.

If UT lost to Memphis, Florida, and/or Kentucky, would their championship hopes be done with?

Using that as a standard (win or go home), what is Fulmer's bowl record? What is Fulmer's SEC championship game record?

This is not a "fire Phil Fulmer" thread...

I didn't think it was. It is unfair to compare a great baskball coach with a great football coach. Both at times have done more with less. Both coaches have great staffs and both motivate differently. We do not always see what is going on behind the scenes. There are eight to ten more critical decision points in a football game than there are in a basketball game. One or two missed decisions in a football game puts the entire season on the line and the players know it win it happens. In basketball, it happens and you can recover from it in the next game. We were not prepared to play SC in basketball this season (away game)

Was it a big game? Yes and No. Seeding in SEC tournament was affected by the loss and possible NCAA Seeding. We might have won the SEC tournament if we had be better prepared for a big game with SC. A 2 seed in the tournament would have been a better bracket with in a lower tier of the SEC. Vandy had that spot and blew it.

His winning percentage in games in which title hopes are on the line is definitely better than Pearl's.

Well first of all, Pearl hasn't played any games when title hopes are on the line:crazy: and btw you may want to watch Peyton Manning's Florida games and the 2001 LSU game if you're talking about title hopes being on the line.
