Behr, I need to invest in some cookware. I have some Inkor waterless that I like ok, but despise when the lids "lock" on. I have a couple decent Wolfgang Puck stainless saucepans/skillets, and some paula deen nonstick stuff along with some Calphalon. Do you have any preferences as far as durability or ease of cleaning, heat distribution, etc? Price point isnt too terribly important ( within reason)

A lot of different stuff out there. If you want, we can talk later. $, $$ or $$$$$$

what about okra, I thought that was a staple also in jambalya

Okra is common in Gumbo, not so much in authentic Jambalaya.

What's the best thing you've made with marshmallows?

Redneck Smores!!!

Take a look at some Lincoln Centurion. Pricey, but will be the last cookware you will ever need to purchase. 18/10 Stainless Steel. Commercial grade.

Thanks! I will definitely look into them. price isnt a very huge concern ( I dont want to pay rediculous amounts) because I look at them as investments

Do you two really like egg rolls or does she just like to make them? I ask because I like them okay, but I make them every once in a while just because they are fun to make.

Dude, her egg rolls are the best I have ever had. She does not cut corners. Plus she likes to make them. You two should talk via email.
That's a win-win for my belly.

I got preferences lol, and I wanted him to have a good idea what I was used to having and if he had any suggestions on what may be better

(i thought it may help me get in his pants lol)

I was all excited until the.... lol.

I don't know how much money you want to spend or exactly what you are looking for.

If it were me, I would by the best (in order Viking, Demeyere or Calphon). I would by the 3 essentials (stock pot, saute pan and a sauce pan) then add as I could afford them.

Obviously buy pans that can go from stove top to the oven. Make sure the handles are riveted to the pot/pan. All of the best will be.

If those are out of your price range and/or you want a set, I would look at Kirkland Signature or Emerilware. Either one of these will last forever and also come with a lifetime guarantee.

Hope that helps.

How do redneck smores differ from smores?

I made the name up.

Ritz crackers
Sharp Cheddar cheese
Marshmallow

Put a slice of cheddar the same size and thickness of the cracker on the Ritz, put a large marshmallow on top and put it in a 350 degree pre-heated oven until the marshmallow is a dark brown.

I usually make 3-4 per person at a time.

Don't knock it til you try it!

I really like to make them and like I said, I like them okay. My biggest problem with them is when I think about making them, I never have cabbage and when I'm at the store, I don't think about getting any.

Where would I go to get my hands on them? I know I can order on line, but would love to go feel them an play around with them before I buy. I love my cal bakeware. My jellyroll pan is probably the most guarded pan in my kitchen

Search online, they might give you "retailers" in your area or search for a Restaurant Equipment Supply store in your area.

Farmers Daughter,

I'll ramble for a minute. Just something to think about.

Everyone wants the best of everything (I do anyway), but with this cookware, do you really need the best? I mean at home I don't use Viking. The commercial grade pots and pans are designed for exactly that. They stay on a blue flame the best part of 12-14 hours a day and when they aren't, they are getting thrown in to a commercial dishwasher while still hot enough to fry an egg, then back to the flame again.

My point is, a nice tri clad pan is great, but for home use it's kinda overkill. For your use, you can get cookware that will more than suit your needs, last forever and cost you 30-40 percent less.......but still be expensive. The stainless/aluminum composite will heat evenly and you still get the durability (won't warp or dent) and easy maintenance that you get with more expensive copper/stainless/aluminum.

Okay, I'm done.

FD, if you love to cook, here is what I did for RV for Christmas one year.
Cooking Class Orlando Florida.
We took a weekend trip over to Orlando and took his private 2 hour class. RV had a blast. Very reasonable price. Here is a couple of pics of the day.

I wish Behr would consider offering this. :eek:hmy:

No. follow the link and see it's a Design center. His wife and father in law own it and he uses the Viking kitchen of the showroom. Pretty cool set up.

Haha, thanks Behr, a great pan/pans is what I am after. If I can find a great quality one for a little less money I will do it. I would like to have some that my future daughters will fight over when I die lol

I'm a little biased because I love everything Viking, equipment and cookware. But, if your most guarded piece is Calphalon, then I would go with that. I'd put them (and did) in the top three.

Viking sewing machines are the sh!t, so I figured the pans would be. Just out of nosiness, what is your favorite knives?

Brand or Type?

My favorite brand is J.A. Henckels.

Types, Chefs knife, parer and utility are basically the only ones I ever use.

I have 2 Henckels that I picked up at a yard sale for .25¢ lol. I have 2 sets of hen and roosters, but my favorite is my rada cutlery. Theyre really inexpensive and will hold a wonderful edge
