'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

There is a lot of ignorance in this thread. You guys do know that Kirven is from Roanoke which is 30 or so miles from Blacksburg. So he may like the comfortability of a smaller town feel.

Just because it is in the mountains doesn't mean it is "away from civilization." I live here because of the college I go to (Radford, hence the name) and am from a suburb of Washington D.C. so its not like I haven't experienced "civilization," and although outside of the Blacksburg limits is very rural, the city of Blacksburg has a very nice feel to it.

I'm not saying that there's anything against Knoxville or any other city but to say that no one would want a college experience like VT is very ignorant, not to mention the impressions of VT or Blacksburg as being an unsafe place.

He's from Lynchburg. An hour north of Roanoke.

Nobody said no one. I'm mostly just saying I wouldn't care to live there myself and I'm far from ignorant. Let's just say we have different preferences concerning lifestyles. I like areas that are a bit more populated than do you--and Korren might as well.

Population presents alternatives that small towns simple don't offer. Wal-Mart isn't enough for everybody.

JMoore posted on twitter that V Tech Rivals site is saying that Kirven has eliminated Tennessee.

Of course, it's a Hokie site. Hope it's wrong.

If we miss out on Kirven, Patterson, and Davis, after losing Santos, I'll be even more upset than watching Wright and Dawson last year.
