I would not be surprised if Sunseri and Joseph explain to Santos and his family that the Vols have played above the board in complete honesty in his recruitment and are asking him to do the same. They will tell him if he waits until NSD to decide where he is going, after being committed 99.9%,

My guess us that if he visits Texas, we could pull our offer to Santos and move on to someone who wants to be a Tennessee Volunteer.

No Tim I don't think so......The more he is told by Texas the more he will be lie to and Santo's is smart enough to figure it out....

If they offered another player today (texas) like they did I don't understand it....Although it was a DE position it was one I do believe that they were thinking about position wise for Santos.....They could be playing game and manipulation or tactics, but the kid is really caught up in this mess...TX pulling at him....

I know he loves UT but he has only loved UT for a little while. He grew up in Texas. It's his dream offer. Losing Wilcox and Sirmon really hurt us (obviously).

Again, I think he if sticks with UT it will be because 1) he truly does want to play college ball with his boys (Otha and O'Brien) and 2) he will realize Texas strung him out until the last minute because they didn't land Green-Beckham or someone else they wanted more than him.

I think if he's still committed to us on Monday, depending on how he reacts to the Texas visit, he could stick with us.

I think by Monday we will have a lot better idea about all this. Bad or good.

I think they wanted him as DE when they offered... He is about 30-40 pounds over their standard LB... :salute:

Who's that OT from Henry County that grew up a Vols fan and is going to Vandy instead?

I forget his name, but the boyhood team doesn't always win out. Let's hope the same applies in this case.

It was Jelks, and we didn't really recruit him very hard. Don't give any Candy fodder for the pariahs to smell.

That should tell you that the guy was a little off his rocker to start with...

For the record, I'm 50/50... I know that's weak but half of me wants to believe Santos will stick with us just because Texas swooped in at the last minute. The other part knows Mack Brown gets what he wants in Texas.

No kidding I read through 10 pages and got caught up around lunch, then looked again just now and was 7-8 pages behind again. My summary: everyone is still freaking out. Some posters already think he is gone, some say he will stay. Some are bashing him, some are bashing the bashers for bashing. Lots of "dating in high school" analogies, some "if I were him" posts. Every 3 pages someone posts something from an actual source. Also, debate on how bad b12 sucks, who's better mizzou/atm or wvu/tcu? Blah blah blah, no one knows crap till visit Wednesday. There, saved y'all 30 or so pages

Thank you

Because we all know that a 17/18 year old kid has never accepted a late offer and switched before.....this would be a first! ;)

Kids commit and change their commitments for all kinds of reasons. Santos may very well stay with Tennessee but there is ZERO chance his thought process will be, "Well, I have always been a Longhorn fan and I really think playing at Texas would be the best situation for me but since the Horns swooped in at the last minute I'm honoring my commitment to Tennessee."

Speaking of Skeeter, has anyone seen him post anything on VN today?? He needs to come outta hiding..LOL!! He probably needs a break from all the madness.

When the new Texas coaching staff was finally put in place roughly a year ago, one of the major tasks that faced the new arrivals to Austin was completing several month's worth of evaluations for the 2012 class in a matter of weeks.

If there was one player that fell through the cracks created by the transition, it was Van linebacker Dalton Santos, a middle linebacker prospect who committed to Oklahoma State during the fall of his junior season, then switched his pledge to Tennessee, and is now considering other options after turnover on the Volunteer staff.

Months after defensive coordinator Manny Diaz apologized to Santos for missing on the initial evaluation, Texas appears to be atoning for that mistake, offering Santos on Sunday, with an in-home visit scheduled this week and an official visit next weekend.

The Under Armour All-American built relationships with some of the other Texas commits during the week in Orlando even though he wasn't on the radar at the time and holds offers from a number of national programs

This is great, no doubt about it. Texas is Texas. It gives me something to think about, for sure, because I grew up a Texas fan and I live in Texas.

- Dalton Santos, 1/23/12

Just sayin.

Hopefully he doesn't accept Diaz' apology.

I trust the coaching staff and the job they do as recruiters. I know Mack Brown has for many years had an amazing influence on Texas kids. But I think Saban's best recruiter ever is one of the best recruiters in the business. Dooley flat-out beat Saban for McCullers, and could beat him for Kirven.

I'm putting my bet behind the guy who's been money at Tennessee the past two NSDs.

I wonder if CDD and crew have another recruit to go see..... Skeeter may not hear anything until they get back...I hope we do not have to wait that long.. :ermm:
