'12 SC WR Quinshad Davis

Grayshirt just means he pretty much stays home. Not sure why we couldn't do that either. Unless Fortenberry means we wouldn't want to.

It sounds like Volquest is in a state of mass confusion.

You can't do gray shirts this year. Tennessee has the room for 25. I don't think they ask anyone to be a walk-on this late in the game.

I don't see them turning down Patterson or Kirven.

Now, Tennessee won't get everyone and the numbers will work themselves out. There's no way to know right now who wants on and where everyone committed will end up. That's just how it works and is part of the fun leading up to signing day. It's really just wait and see moving forward.

Can't do grayshirts.... this is the first I've heard of this.

Did the SEC just outlaw every awesome way to over-sign or what?

You can still accomplish the same thing as a grey shirt, you would just have to tell them before NSD and not have them sign a LOI. Then they can still "gray shirt" the next year and sign a scholarship the year after that.

Here is what Hubbs said on it

Now, yes based on the 85 you could grayshirt still. But you won't see grayshirting because a team oversigns on National Signing Day. That was what I thought the poster was asking.

I know thats exactly what he was saying. I didn't post the whole thing. He would be ineligible to play for us this fall

Gotcha. Maybe I'm picking up what you're throwing down now.... I just don't know if that basketball rule applies to football.

Oh well... someone will figure it out and post it eventually and be REAL proud of themselves.

So anyway, I hear Quinshad Davis can jump over a school bus.

(you guys happy now?)

Haha Slive has made this so complicated for fans and stressful for coaches lol.

Apparently you can only sign more than 25 if you can backcount. We cant backcount so we can't gray shirt. If you cant backcount, you can not sign more than 25

Hence why I said you cannot gray shirt like before, but you can still accomplish the same task as a grey shirt. Before, everybody would sign a LOI and then the gray shirts would work themselves out later. Now, you would have to tell the player before National signing day, and not allow them to sign a LOI until the next year. The NCAA or SEC could do nothing about this.

For three-star receiver Quinshad Davis (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) it’s down to three schools -- Wake Forest, North Carolina and Tennessee, according to his coach Dan Jones.

“Quinshad will visit Tennessee this weekend,” Jones said. “He knows the Vols need receivers and that they have a young quarterback that can really throw the ball.”

Davis, 6-foot-2 and 180-pounds, made an official visit to North Carolina this past weekend. It was a very good and productive visit for Davis and his mother.
