It appears Kevin is in line to become the new coach at the University of Denver. Interesting.

Do you think he is going to hire Steve Hamer as an assistant:birgits_giggle:

I'm going to be skeptical about this until it's finalized. The idea of Kevin getting back into the recruiting game just seems a little dubious to me.

The University of Denver? What is that, community college? :)

By all reports, he is very good at it though. UofD seems an odd choice.

Kevin was a fantastic recruiter. He was recognized by his peers as the best recruiter in the country when he was an assistant at Arizona. However, his disdain for kissing the a$$es of self indulgent recruits is exactly why he left for the pros in the first place.

My guess is that at a place like Denver U, the number and intensity of a$$ kisses would need to be inordinately high to build a successful program.

Exactly, that's why I find this rather strange. That is one of the 10 worst jobs in D-I.

In other coaching news, the Milwaukee Bucks fired Terry Stotts and Steve Alford is reportedly a candidate for the New Mexico job.

You know, there are times when I wonder what O'Neill could have done with another year or two with the recruiting class Jerry Green inherited from him, which underachieved their way to four straight NCAA bids.

Then I sober up.

Of one thing I feel certain--he would have done more with them than Green did.

Don't think they would have played very uptempo, and he would have LOVED Tony Harris.:eek:lol:

O'Neill recruited Tony Harris from the moment he arrived in Knoxville. Kevin knew exactly what he would have been getting.

Then your saying he thought he could control him, just like he thought he could control everything. I guess you are what you are huh? Honestly TH was who he was too, a Jacka@@, and nobody was going to control him. Practice? said Tony Iverson

I think Tony Harris would have certainly respected Kevin O'Neil more than Jerry Green. O'Neil demanded more repect, Green demanded no structure or discipline.
