'12 JUCO WR Cordarrelle Patterson (UT signee)

We've recruited him the longest and the hardest. We have a better QB to get him the ball. Our run game isn't proven, so passing the ball is inevitable. Also, we just had Matt Milton and DeAnthony Arnett leave. Outside of Da'Rick and JH11, there's not a whole lot to be proud of (I am aware V. Dallas, Croom, and Pig are good, but they're still young and inexperienced).

Less than 2 weeks ago the same experts were saying UT was completely out of it.

He may go to UGA. Who knows?

But here is just friendly word of advice when trying to follow UT recruiting right now or compare your chances to UT... Dooley treats recruiting info like it was the launch codes to ICBMs. If the recruit doesn't talk or else sends mixed signals (as CP has been prone to do) then you will have absolutely no idea where UT stands.

Why? I think it's Georgia if that's the case. What makes you think it's the Vols?

You could be right. I'm not saying it is necessarily UT for Patterson.

The fact that Brent Hubbs is stating it is between 2 schools (UT and UGA) is a good sign IMO. Especially with the way Hubbs has handled and reported Patterson's recruitment.

Hubbs usually is very select and careful with what he lists and says. He has been very cautious with what he has said about Patterson's recruitment until the last 2 weeks or so. His posts since then about Patterson have seemed much more positive. It has basically went from "UT is in it with about 4 other SEC schools, but is on the outside looking in" to "I like where UT is currently at with Patterson and it is probably between UT and UGA".

Something has happened in Patterson's recruitment that has made UT attractive once again IMO. It could be UT has lost 2 WRs (Arnett and Milton) as of late.

Good catch. I actually think outside of DR and JH, Croom will contribute the most out of the receivers. I have VD surprises me. I think Raijon will be utilized similarly to what he did this year, so I don't really count him as a receiver. Hopefully he will get more touches out of the backfield.

Dawg fans feeling good about CP.

Super. Doesn't really amount to a hill of beans that you guys feel good about him. We do too. Also feel/felt (depending on who you ask) about Santos. That could also amount to a hill of beans. How we as fans feel about a recruit has nothing to do with his decision. I guess we will know in 9 days.

I think it will be between UGA/UT because of the QB's, although I would rather he went to AU than UGA for our sake. UGA seems to have the upper hand because they don't have a Rogers/Hunter duo on their squad, so he could come in and be the first or second WR immediately.

I think you meant to say "I hope VD surprises me." Even still, that's not a great statement to make.

I know what you were trying to say, just thought it was funny.

That's a very strong argument and very hard to disagree with. There is no doubt that CP would shine in UT's offense.

The only question I have, and it's the same one I've had all along his recruitment, is CP up to the task of knowing he will have to compete against DR and JH11? He would almost be penciled in as a starter for the Barn and he would contribute immediately at UGA.

We led early for CP and there was no team even close. Him not being an EE opened the door. I have no idea how this will end, but we led early for a reason.

Arnett doesn't affect crap. He was a slot.

Milton doesn't affect crap. He never played.

See my post above. I am not so sure. He was taking trips and giving love to whoever he happened to be seeing. UT doesn't talk. I suspect nothing at all has changed with UT. He just made his OV circuit and is now comparing everyone. I believe he has always been interested in UT.

Fair enough.

Agree that UT has not had anyone like Hunter in a long time... maybe ever. He is faster than Pickens ever was.
IDK. Hunter runs great routes though and separates well from DBs. Doesn't hurt that he can jump out of the stadium either on the jump balls.

Exactly. Probably the most important fact. UT led for Patterson for months and months. I don't know the exact reasons for why, but the fact is UT led. There had to be something about UT, that Patterson really really liked.

He contributes wherever he goes. He would be a compliment to Hunter and Rogers rather than competition. Same with your first two WR's.

If he's smart, he stays away from Auburn right now. He will draw better coverages with either UT or UGA.

I do know. Hunter does pretty much everything well and has track speed. IIRC, he, Neal, and Brewer all posted 40's in the 4.3 range last summer. Pickens was never that fast. He was stronger and thicker than JH though.

remember pickens running down the rutgers player from behind and causing a fumble? saved the game.. i thought he was fast and elusive.. great great player on o and d

Your question is definitely appropriate. First, I think JH's contribution depends on how well he has progressed from his injury. Given his talent, I definitely wouldn't rush anything with him. Second, in Chaney's offense, CP would be targeted probably 5-8 times a game, while Murray would be able to target him 3-4 times a game. CP is proven in the return game, and we could use help there as well. UGAs running game is leaps and bounds better than UTs right now, so that would be one of my main arguments, too.

When it comes to having DR, JH, and CP on the same roster, I really think that just depends on CP as a player/person. Does he want to get all of the attention? The argument can go either way. At UGA/Barm, he'll be the main guy or only guy. Defenses will scheme for him and try to neutralize his game. At UT, he can play in the return game, and defenses can't realistically scheme for 3 very good receivers. Going man-to-man would be a nightmare.

Obviously, there are plenty of scenarios and it really just depends on CP.
