'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

I think so too. He is a big ol boy. Could stand up, or play with a hand on the turf.

the guy has great poise, and technique even for a HS senior. I'm sure with some coaching and S&C he will end up a contributor, i never understood why rivals dropped him, but i think alot of their ratings are based on when things happen, the guys recruitment was pretty basic, no drama, and no twists and turn. for what its worth i think they put more stock in those players who have that drama, JMHO, but you could certainly make that case.

Can and can't see that. Rivals is obviously biased to a fault when ranking players. He deserved the drop IMO. Buttttt, I don't think that it matters in the end. In a few years this guy will turn heads. Reminds me of a young Sentimore.

Agreed, still don't like the fact that he would still have his VT visit left though

man the guy is willing to go down here again for what is it the 5th time? and with his parents.. so id say that means a ton. really going to measure up the schools. i think he really likes sal more than what he puts out there. and what a haul that would be for sal, not even two weeks into the job and pull 2 big time defensive talents. ME LIKELY (no homo)

its weird, im not saying they do it everytime, but i don't know how they justified the drop. either way the one thing that stands out is the coaching staffs ability to recruit guys under the radar. Dooley is one thing and that is def one who can see talent.

Agree, but he knows all that he can about both of us. I think he is a Vol. Just holding out until late to announce the Vols to keep the heat off of his decision.

Absolutely. How many times has Dooley offered a cat that everyone "scratches their head over" just to see the big dogs offer at a later date? Dooley for sure is a good to great evaluator.

yea im more than impressed. i really hope he succeeds here, he just needs time.

He's visiting with his family. It's good news. Does it mean he's a Vol? No. Does it mean we have a chance? Yes. I'm starting to get frustrated with the arrogance of certain posters on this board.

Mentioned in Santos thread battles that need to be won by this staff to be successful on a national level again. This is another one that would help, IMO.

Does it mean he is a vol? No. Does that mean that people can't post their opinion of where he is going to end up based on this, interviews, and other things? No

We have a shot but I feel like we may be the bridesmaid here. V-Tech has been the favorite for awhile.

We could land him though. Not saying it won't happen. We are also going after Briscoe so it will definitely be interesting over the next 10 days.

We aren't done on the DL that is for sure.

I have felt we had a decent shot for Kirven for a long time, but with this news of a mid-week visit with his family in tow I feel we have a very high probability of landing him on NSD. Kirven has been to VT dozens of times and there is really nothing new they could show him this weekend to change his mind.

You just don't come for a mid-week visit and bring the family along a week before NSD unless you are very serious about the program -- and that is doubly true when you are paying for it out of your own pocket and when you have coaches from various top programs scheduled for in-home visits every day next week, including Alabama.

Unless something really strange happens when they come that causes the family to not like us, Kirven will be a Vol on NSD.

There is no reason for him not to commit to VT if that is his choice. They may lead but if he was not undecided... he would have committed already most likely.
