We got picked to make the final four...

I think that is a little extreme, the final four. I was watching ESPN earlier today and they thought Tennessee would make it to the Sweet 16 and it showed them playing Ohio State again according to the predictions on ESPN with Ohio State winning. I do not think they will make it that far. Their track record on the road this year is not good, they have played 15 games on the road and have only won 5, and this is a on the road tournament, and as fans have noticed, the road hasn't been kind to them this season. I'm afraid it will be one and done, like the SEC tournament. Don't want it to be, but I'm just judging by their road record this season. Not a good one. And I love the Vols, Bruce Pearl has taken them far in just two seasons.

Go Vols!

we match up well with everyone in our bracket outside of texas a&m and ohio st but we should have beaten them in columbus. it's not outside the realm of possibility, but i find it surprising that anyone would pick us.

for those of you that say we aren't big enough, did you watch george mason last year?

This isn't really "on the road", in the conventional sense. Neutral sites are just that: neutral.

I think it's safe to throw away road/home records at this point, because as much as we want some shred of predictive ability to come from any single stat, the stat you're looking at has no real precedence in the vols' 2006-07 season, unless you wanna include the NIT pre-season tourney, which: don't.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. And yes, we should have won the game against Ohio State. Lost by two points the last minute. And lost to Vanderbilt at Nashville in the last few seconds. Were ahead of Ole Miss by 14 and lost in the last few minutes. You cannot have a big enough lead against a team anymore it seems. I do not want us to have to play Ohio State again, as they have gotten alot better since then. And that Odon or whatever his name is is impossible to defend. And I couldn't believe Butler held Tennessee to 40 something points in the Preseason NIT. Tennessee had bad luck that in that tournament having to play Butler and then North Carolina, but I thought Tennessee played a pretty good game against North Carolina. Tennessee needs some more players with height, 3 guys at 6'8" and 6'9" and everyone else 6'4" and under doesn't help. We are definitely mismatched where defending is concerned in relation to size. I think Butler will cause some trouble for many teams in the tournament. I would be happy if Tennessee can make it at least two rounds.

Someone told me at work today that Tennessee was going to be a one and done this year. At that time I hadn't actually seen who we were paired up against. I asked and he wouldn't tell me. I came back with the newspaper and bracket and told him we were playing LBSU. I laughed and walked away.

I don't see us losing in round 1. On my goof off bracket I had us winning it all. We're in a pretty lousy region. I also had tOSU losing to Xavier in the second round.

Tennessee is destined for the Sweet 16 like many have said here before.

LBSU starts 3 guards and 2 forwards. They have one center that comes off of the bench, but he is very young. They rely on the three for almost all of their points, and they are 0-4 vs the top 100 in the RPI.

Virginia is also a guard heavy team that loves to play up-tempo. This would be a problem, except that they don't cause turnovers like a normal up tempo team (Tennessee) should. Tennessee will get a ton more shot opportunities in this high paced game, and that will be the difference as it often is for the Vols.

Size is our biggest weakness, and it shouldn't be a factor until the OSU game.

While I don't think it's impossible for UT to beat OSU and Memphis (or Tex A&M), I do think its unlikely they progress beyond the round of 16.

Of course I'd love for March Madness to prove me wrong and send UT to the final four. :)

I would love to be proven wrong also. I think we have some fantastic freshman players. They do a fantastic job. Another problem of Tennessee's has gotten to be the foul shooting. They used to shoot 80 something percent per game as a team. Now it is down to 60 or 61 percent. In that game against LSU they missed one of two every time and I am sure that was enough points missed to win the game for them. I feel that is something they need to work on badly. And JaJuan Smith needs to know when to stop trying threes with as many as he missed against LSU in the tournament.

tigers will be in the elite 8 cause they'll defeat the cards...if they play aTm then they'll prolly lose.

remember when we played the tigers??? thats the lofton we need to if we expect to go to the final 4...the way he performed that night nobody can stop us

whoever made the point about "almost" beating someone is a good one....I think given Tennessee's long history of poor success in tournament play puts us at a disadvantage.

Final Four...no way, Sweet Sixteen and competing against OSU but eventually losing...yes.

I don't think Oden has improved as much as his teammates have figured out to get him the ball in a position for him to score. I wouldn't trade Chism or Crews for Oden, but I don't see them being effective against him the second time around.

How is Oden only 18 or 19, he looks 40.

I think UT could beat Ohio State. Not likely, but possible. I'd say you would probably be about a 7 point dog.

That's crazy talk unless your factoring in the fact that he's leaving early. If he'd stay 4 years, I'd trade both of them for Oden and we'd immediately be a NC contender.
