'12 GA RB Mike Davis (USCe commit)

You guys need to be careful about what you're posting on these kids threads here. some of them actually read it, and you don't make a kid do a detour if they're considering coming to UT. So what if Mike is in S.Carolina. Hell we've been to many schools that announced our presence, but it didnt mean they got Jason. We traveled the southeast before a decision was announced. Who cares where a kid visits as long as he makes the best decision for himself? Whether its UT which we pray and hope for that Mike comes, but if it isn't; then he wasn't for us, and God will send whomever HE wants in that position. Right wrong or indifferent.

Can we make this a sticky?

I haven't been to the Grove, but Athens is by far the best time I have ever had at an opposing venue. Love that town.

EDIT: And the coeds. But honestly that goes without saying at about every SEC school I've been to.

Its a couple of factors.

We feature an offense that relies heavily on the run game. Prospects know that they will get a great opportunity to display their talents.

We focus only on a select few prospects. We don't chase around 5 different RB prospects. Last year it was Crowell or bust. This year we will take 2RBs and we were only chasing 2 guys until Davis opened up his recruitment. I think that alone says alot to our recruits. Some fans think its a dangerous way to recruit but so far we have been successful.

Lastly, our coaches are very good recruiters. They do a good job of selling the school, the staff, themselves, and just everything UGA has to offer.

I wish Mike much success which ever school he chooses; even though i am absolutely in no-way fond of UGA and their tactics, staff school or otherwise... but I like Mike he's gonna do well anywhere he goes

But you offered Drake, Shell, Jovon Robinson, Yeldon, Matt Jones and probably others in addition to Gurley and Marshall. Is that not chasing around a number of RB's?

Mike Davis should do what Mike Davis believes he should do and we should all accept and support that decision. With that, let's hope that he sees the opportunity at Tennessee that we know exists for him to be a Vols all-time great.

we actually did offer more RBs than that.. at least 2 of those committed elsewhere early on, that doesn't mean we weren't still recruiting them but its not like we were spending more time on them than other targets at other positions

I think what insider meant was that the staff really put the heat on a select few rather than going after 5 guys who weren't interested

Exactly. Thanks.

OK, then that is what everyone else does - evaluate and offer early on and then focus on the ones that are interested.
