The fact that we care this much about a Defensive Coordinator hire is sad...

That's somehow our fault? We aren't the ones that have been making terrible decisions for the last decade. (Well, most of us anyway)

Because the DC doesn't do anything come game time and losing WIL and SIR doesn't affect anything important like this recruiting class...

Jay Graham news today was pretty positive. Of course, it took a backseat to the DC circus.

Thats how desperate we are as a fanbase to find something...anything positive with this program.

k cuz hiring a DC shouldn't matter. Being competitive on defense and wanting to be good on defense is utterly ridiculous. In fact we should just announce we don't ****ing need one. Just like we didn't need a RB or ST teams coach. k

I disagree. It shows passion on Rocky Top!!! I was no fan of Buzz Peterson but he often made sense pr wise. He mentioned this place goes crazy over the spring game so much that it can distract from basketball season. Hiring the right defensive coordinator is essential to getting the train on the tracks.

There are a lot of positives in the Vols football program. It does not take any effort to see them. Eliminate your unrealstic views of the program and you will see them.

I wonder how much Hart wants to punch Hammy in the face for the current state of UT athletics???

Probably loving it. If Hart starts regime in oblivion and is able to get us out then he has a legacy. If he received in great shape then harder to have fans support unless he takes it up another notch.

Part of it is our tradition. Defensive football is in our blood. We are the home of the greatest defensive mind football, college or pro, has ever or will ever see. We've churned out coordinators, from Donahue to Chavis, who have done honor to Neyland's legacy in many respects. Tennessee fans treasure a great defensive football team more than they ever will a quality offensive unit. Many of us still remember that 1983 team and the kind of vice-grip they put on opponents that season. I still get chills thinking about Donahue's last great work in teaching the art of Tennessee defensive football with our 1985 team. I remember them reducing Vinny Testaverde to rubble that season.

We put a value on this hire because we put a premium on our defensive heritage and wish to see it carried forward.
