Larry, what I want you to say is that since everyone was figuring out that Shanon was hired, Skeeter's and your source told yall to throw everyone a curve to get us off the trail. Can you say that with a straight face? I'll sleep better if you can.

If you have any contacts in the program who'll accept some feedback from you, please tell them that it would be smart/ kind/ awesome/ productive/ just generally nice all around if they would go ahead and leak something in a semi-official manner tomorrow.

If they really, truly aren't still out there interviewing and pondering their options, but instead have RS (or what the hell, anyone else) pretty much locked down, for God's sake, let us know. I really can't take much more of this.

Dooley will be interviewing coaches the next couple days for the DC spot as they are vetted.

OK, you know what? What the hell. I don't care any more. It is what is is. All this up-and-down-ness has flat worn me out.

It's one thing for UT to play its cards close to the chest, but I'm starting to feel like we're being gamed. I'm quite certain that the AD knows what the fanbase is going through. They could at least acknowledge this.

Let them go ahead and conduct all their negotiations in secret; makes sense to me. No one needs to have their employment contract up for the scrutiny of 120,000 or whatever fans. Do it right, and drop us a line when it's all done.

I need to go pull the ornaments off the mostly-dead Christmas tree, and take out the recycling, and get my paperwork ready for tax time.

Gah.

I wouldn't be "surprised" (as Skeeter puts it) if the staff asked their "friends" (insiders) to keep things hush and throw people off the trail with half-truthisms like "they haven't offered anyone" or "Dooley and Shannon have not spoken."

i bet shannon has it locked but Hart will let dooley interview a few coaches; to make it look like dooley has control over the program when we all know Shannon IS Harts hire. i think if it were up to dooley we would hire some no namer from a weak team in a weak conference.

this is what makes me believe he already has the hire. say he interviews someone on monday, there is no way that contract is finalized by saturday. and how would that look to our recruits who are visiting? This deal has to be already done.

Are all of your posts this worthless? How convenient that to fit your dumb ass agenda you can call it a Dooley hire if you do not like and a Hart hire if you do. Bottom line is that both of them have their hands in each and every hire.

I'm sorry but this just reeks of misinformation to rejuice this announcement.
I would believe they are brokering on who comes with him. I'm sure a package of top assistants would be the rabbit in the hat they could be gunning for but if it's not Shannon then it's a total flop by Hart with the info that was previously leaked.

A dc will not be named til every T is crossed and every i is dotted. Would be a pr nightmare to announce a dc, then have them back out at the last moment. I would guess tuesday or weds we'll all know. More than likely more than one coach will be announced.

There is no way that Dooley is going to interview someone on Monday or Tuesday and have that finished up by Saturday. This hire has been done, and like you said the signing has to occur. I just don't see him ruining this recruiting weekend. If he does, then he is severely inept, and boy are we in trouble.

he has to have his guy, there is no way, take what you want from stopit28, but contract negotiations don't take a a day or two. especially from what "reputable" posters have been saying about how it takes time, "they won't hire in 5 days" those kinds of sayings. Which means, he is not going to interview next week, if he is, its not for a DC.

I tend to agree with the later-than-Monday date. The "publicity during the NC game will be wall to wall" argument is counterintuitive to say the least. A more logical argument would be that the flood of NC news would drown out any news of the Tennessee DC rather than making a big splash and both the announcers at the game and the viewers at home could care less.

A Tuesday or Wednesday announcement just makes more sense, with Wednesday being preferable to let the NC after-game drivel to die down and also to give us direct buzz going into the big recruiting weekend. Thursday or Friday is cutting it a bit too close for comfort to me, so Wednesday seems to be the optimum day for the announcement.

With no announcement to date, I also am beginning to wonder about the accuracy of the Shannon prognostications here. Skeeter?? OCI?? Still comfortable about it being Shannon?? I must admit, the idea of Zook is growing on me.

The bottom line is this, Hart will certainly have a ton of input as to who is or isn't hired, because it HAS to go through him when it comes to contracts. If Hart approaches Dooley and merely says, "I'm behind you on whomever you want to hire. Salary is not a barrier here." That last part signifies just what Hart expects.

"Don't go shopping at the Dollar General Store, when I am giving you enough resources to shop at Bloominsgdales or Nordstrom's." Hint. Hint (your job is on the line with this one; make it count).
