Definitely not something I would be gloating about after being a Top 10 pre-season pick. Even after tonights game, you can't feel too good about your team or you are not facing the fact that Patner can't reel these guys in.

U kno i was a Bruce fan. Sometime i wish he didnt get fired. So, some of the die hards could see Bruce Almighty couldnt work a miracle with this team.

Your crazy, give him time. Stokes will help a lot. Regardless this is just not the same team. Think of it this way, if he does not work out. You could hire Pearl again, I wonder if Hart would have the guts to do that in 3 years...but seriously Martin can win.

This group of players have no basketball knowledge or awareness. Can not blame that on the coach. I have been to every home game and this team has no clue about floor play, on floor position and they are weak on fundamentals. You can only play the hand you are dealt..let's give Conzo a chance.

You can't fire the guy after one year, or even two...Hes gotta have a chance to recruit a couple classes and have his guys on the floor. I know Stokes kinda fell in his lap but he had a lot to do with it too. Thats a great start.
That being said, I still don't think bashing Pearl is the thing to do. He did make his mistakes and he paid for them but we can't forget the excitement and national attention he brought here. Theres prolly a lot of people here that didnt follow UT basketball nearly as close before the Pearl era.
Either way, I think Martin has showed some promise but hes had down times too. I won't say fire him but I also won't say hes the next Coach K. Just gotta wait and see

Yeah, we suck and so far I don't like Martin at all, but gotta give the guy 2 years at least. Scares me a little that he is going to live or die with man defense.

Worst thing that ever happned to Martin was the competitive showing in Maui. Gave Tennessee fans false hope and now reality makes it look like the team has regressed. Truth: They weren't any good to begin with.

Maui vibe is different. Small gym, teams usually shoot well, early season refs - the first Memphis game, for instance, was dictated by the fact refs called 10 million fouls. Now we have bigger sample size and Tennessee has only beaten really, really bad teams. Has lost to good teams, mediocre teams and even one bad team. That means the players aren't good enough.

I don't know if Martin can get it done or not. Never made an NCAA Tournament at Mizzou St, so time will tell. But coaching or not, Memphis is a much better team than Tennessee with way more talent this year. Will take a few years of recruiting to fix that.

If it makes anyone feel better I will take Martin over Memphis coach..he should be a recruiting coordinator and that is about it.

Robert Morris scored 47 points and shot 23%
Charlotte scored 58 points and shot 25%
Tennessee scored 51 points and shot 36%

Josh has gotten the players to buy into team defense...

Are you seriously bragging on your coach for beating Robert Morris, Charlotte and a .500 UT team? Optimism. That must be a trait only passed on to progeny in the western side of this state. :hi:

Robert Morris is 11-4 and followed its loss at Memphis with a win at Ohio, which was previously 11-1 with road wins at Oakland, Marshall and Northern Iowa. Robert Morris would be favored over Tennessee FWIW

If we are ready to run Zo out of town already we might as well shut down our mens basketball team also because with the talent we have right now NO ONE is going to put a constant winner on the court. Coach Martin was a great hire and it will take some time to get some talent on this roster.
