“You can’t lay all your eggs in one basket,” he said. “Next year I might look and coach Dooley or coach Sirmon might be gone, but no matter what happens with the coaches I know that I chose the best place for me not just because of the coaches. I chose Tennessee because of some of the guys I will be playing with, the town and there are so many good things about it that I like.”

Santos is not in the same league as Hightower. C'mon man! Santos isn't going to be a top-15 pick in any NFL draft.

You are so ridiculous it's pitiful. He didn't compare him to Hightower. And even if he did who are you to say he definitely won't be as good or better.

You know - guys with 4.5-4.6 40s that weigh 250 lbs and love to blow up opposing ball carriers are my kind of football player. His future looks solid as an ILB or Mike as JMoore states. So let's watch him develop and play. When it's over we will all know what round or if he gets drafted. It is really premature to say he will or he won't achieve All American status.

I watched Hightower in HS and would have bet the farm he wouldn't play LB in the SEC. Thot he was too big and too slow. WRONG again!

“I really wanted to do the early enrollment, but I couldn’t get it done through the NCAA and I had to take another semester of school,” Santos told InsideTennessee. “I wanted to get this recruiting thing behind me. It is just never ending. Every time you turn they are in your text messages all the time. I wanted to get up there and get the next stage of my life going, but it didn’t work out.”

“It has been really hard,” he said. “There have been a lot of coaches coming in telling me everything you want to hear, but you know I haven’t been to Tennessee in a long time. I haven’t been up there in a couple of months and I miss it.

“It has been tough on me. I want to get back up there on Jan. 13 of this month, get back on campus and hang out with some of the guys. That makes it so much easier for me, it just reassures me that it is the place for me and that is where I want to be.”

“I couldn’t be more thankful to coach Dooley, coach Wilcox and coach Sirmon coming down to see me in my home,” he said. “The relationship there is good. The thing is, that relationship with them, with Dooley and Sirmon, is so strong. That is one of the main reasons I am going there.”

This kid is a beast now at the HS level. I hope he is a beast at the next level as well. I like the how mean he plays always looking to knock someones's block off.

All this talk about him to DE is crazy right now. He's a MLB and the type of MLB we'll need to stop the Bama run game. Have you seen the big 245lb man child Fowler at RB? Aj, Maggitt, and crew will have to bring it.

And all the Hightower won't be a first round pick stuff is crazy. How many LBs out there are better than him? Just curious.

Not saying he won't be a first rounder but not in the top 15 for sure

Anyone think we may see more 3-4 next year? McCullers seems to be UT bound and Santos could line up at ILB. Future looks pretty bright for the defensive side of the ball.

Here is Dalton Santos who checked in last week at 6-3, 245.
