7-8 wins were unexceptable for Zook by Florida standards so why should they be expectable for Tennessee? Heck Muschamp is probably sweating bullets right now!

I'm not sure whether it will be acceptable or not, but let me state the obvious . . . there's no comparison between what Zook inherited and what Dooley inherited, so it's not even slightly worth discussing.

a proven winner? wasn't he 5-7 a couple of years ago, its a little easier to win with a senior laden class and a 5th year senior qb

Kids see the now....he is a winner now....our HC is struggling to be .500 at this time.

This is what he does when he doesn't have a response. It's how he rolls.

Yes, expecting 7 wins is delusional and irrational.

To lower expectations for Vince's son is ridiculous.

You want to know why Alabama went out and got Saban? They demanded a damn good coach.

You know why Florida has 2 national titles in the last 6 years? 7 wins wasn't good enough.

Making excuses for a guy that's track record says he's mediocre at best gets you where we're at today.

Kentucky and the offensive genius of Randy Sanders took a 3rd string WR and figured out a way to win a ball game.

Tennessee's coaches rolled up in the fetal position when Hunter went down.

I am just saying...if this season goes the way I fear it will then it is time to cut our losses. At the same time I really want Dooley to be successful because he is really a good man trying to build this program the right way. A rock and a hard spot to be in now.

Dooley is responsible for a 5-7 season this year. He is the head coach. The fanbase is pissed that a bargain basement hire isn't working out.

The fans are tired of being reminded that "just because you start for Tennessee doesn't mean you're any good" or that Bray broke his thumb or Hunter tore his ACL.

The man has done nothing but offer excuse after excuse and actually went backwards this year. There is no reason a guy like James Stone turns into a bench warmer. Saying he's not physically strong enough is a direct reflection on the staff.

There's no reason a guy like Brent Brewer becomes non existent or a CB never turn to find the ball in the air.

A 5-7 season speaks for itself. The fans don't have to do anything.
Tell it like it is son! Tell it like is!

I don't remember

* Posting ill will towards our Coach who is trying to turn the program around
* Searching the forums for a fight with someone postive about our program
* Complaining that recruits shouldn't want to come here
* Hoping that our current coach fails
* Having everything to say bad because I have nothing good to say
* Posting about coaching replacements instead of giving patience to someone who deserves a chance

on the form I filled out to be a Vols Fan

The right thing to do is to support who you are a fan of. If you are upset then please let it be known but some of you are on here being sooo negative that its getting borderline stupid to even think of you as a fan of this program.

I/We get it. Your not happy that we have another losing season and we understand that you think Dooley should be gone and we know that you don't like the direction of the team. We also know that you feel the need to be totally negative about it all the time.

To me the constant negative attitude is what needs to go. Its very immature and most of you are better than that. I learned the lesson of patience and how to act towards other people a long time ago and I know some of you can admit you need to throttle it back.

Most or none of you won't but its worth a shot.

... and if you think that your constant negative attitude isn't effecting these recruits in some way then you are kidding yourself.

I dont disagree with you except that I feel that firing Dooley next year will not allow us to go get a Saban or Meyer. I have never said 7 wins is acceptable. I do think a coaching change next year gaurentees we will see a few more of thise seasons though.

the whole it was a backup WR running the offense holds no water. it is not like the guy threw for 500 yards he was running a freaking wing-t a bit of googling will probably show he was a HS option qb. Who the heck better to run such an offense?

edit.. took me less than 30 seconds to find Player Bio: Matt Roark - Kentucky Wildcats Official Athletic Site
Matt Roark - Yahoo! Sports

High School: Combines excellent height and good speed ... Originally a free safety, he moved to quarterback early in his junior year when the team's starting QB was hurt; blossomed at the new position as he developed into a top-notch quarterback ... Honorable-mention all-state as a senior by the Georgia Sportswriters Association and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ...Two-time Cobb County Player of the Year ... In 18 career starts he totaled 54 rushing and passing touchdowns ... As a senior, he completed 98 of 136 passes (72.1 percent) for 1,552 yards and 15 touchdowns ... Rushed for 1,010 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 7.3 yards per carry ... Rushed for over 1,000 yards as a junior, scoring 18 touchdowns ... Also had five interceptions ... Led North Cobb HS to state playoff berths as a junior and senior ... Coached by Shane Queen ... His quarterback coach as a senior was current UK assistant Tee Martin ... Four-year letterman in basketball ... Honor-roll student.
You forgot one little detail he's senior Wr that hasn't played qb since highschool so that crap don't hold water.

There is always turnover when you fire a coach. We will again be fielding a team lacking in depth. It wont be as bad as when Dooley got here but it will be there. Also, what proven coach in his right mind would want to be the 4th coach in 5 years?

If you hire a project or a coach in training I agree.

Where will this lack of depth be? Sure there will be turnover, but room will have to be made for Tennessee to get under the 85 man limit as it stands now. There's room for attrition.

A coach that will enjoy cashing large paychecks, having some of the best facilities in the country and one of, if not the, highest recruiting budget in the country.

Really? Dooley is the reason there were so few SEC caliber starters in the JR and SR classes?

The fans are tired of being reminded that "just because you start for Tennessee doesn't mean you're any good" or that Bray broke his thumb or Hunter tore his ACL.
WHOA... I see the light. Thank you justin. I now understand that you do not need talent on the field in the SEC to win. You just need to keep changing coaches until someone with magic dust shows up and wins with a bunch of FCS level players. Great plan.

The man has done nothing but offer excuse after excuse and actually went backwards this year. There is no reason a guy like James Stone turns into a bench warmer. Saying he's not physically strong enough is a direct reflection on the staff.
Really? Stone had nothing to do with losing his job? Interesting take.

There's no reason a guy like Brent Brewer becomes non existent or a CB never turn to find the ball in the air.
You're right. NEVER happens to first year players at other schools... just UT who happened to be starting first year players at CB almost all year.

A 5-7 season speaks for itself. The fans don't have to do anything.

Then why are you? Why make something bad for "your" team... worse?

When all you offer is $2 million, yes.

I don't see that mistake being repeated.

Who is paying the buyout? Who is paying the extra money to the new coach? Where is it coming from?

Do you have $5 million laying around to pay a guy not to work for UT?

If this class flops and Dooley can't pull one next year then turnover will be the least of the roster problems. Oh... but you've already established that they don't have to be good players, haven't you?

The UTAD has no money. Boosters are happy with how things are going.

If you were the CEO of a company with a $100m per year budget, and your stock price was taking a beating and your revenue was plummeting because of a problem that you thought $5m would fix, there's no doubt that you'd come up with the money to make it happen.

Can they afford not to? How much do you think they're losing with all those empty seats?
