I know we have talked about the problems with the brand of football we are using. Just thought I would post this. It explains alot and no doubt our kicking has been awful. This is no excuse for our kickers missing easy kicks and extra points. Not to mention the lack of basic fundamentals.Just a good visual explaination on the difference between the 2 brands. SIAP

I wish he would have given his overall opinion on the two.

He does mention that with the GST "that's the best he can do". What I got out of it is the brand new GST is harder to kick than the new nike. There have been a few threads on his opinion. I have read most of them. To actually see what he was talking about showed me a difference.

The white stripes of the GST are sewn on. That's gotta throw the balance off some.

Just a side note, the video was shot late summer a little more than a year ago with Terry Fair. They shot it at West HS where George Bullock attends school.

We are the only school in the SEC using the Wilson GST. Is the contract with Wilson the problem? We can pay former coaches a ton of cash , but we can't get out of a deal with Wilson? Is it a different issue all together? If so , what is the problem?

If our coaches feel this is in any way a problem both physically or mentally money must be spent to get out of the contract.

Notice I said mentally. I am more worried about that more than anything.

I believe a team has to bring their own footballs. Correct me if I am wrong , but I've seen the Power T on the football when we are playing on the road.

I believe so too, but that is one thing I can't be sure of myself.

I doubt adidas would like it if we started using a Nike ball

Very good point , but I doubt our coaches care what adidas thinks when it comes to winning football games. Auburn and South Carolina use a different football , but they wear UA. I don't what the answer is , but it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if we went back to Nike. Are we that locked up by adidas?

No, but the boosters care cause they get the money from Adidas. If they start losing money because coaches wanna use Nike then heads will roll

both wrong. The boosters don't get a dime from Adidas, the athletic department does. We've re-upped with Adidas at least twice since Dickey left.

Which might make sense. Our kicker, kicked his longest fiel goal at Alabama which is a Nike school. But i think about his kick at Kentucky that hit the O-lineman in the back. :banghead2:

again, as previously mentioned, UT takes their own balls on the road, just like everyone else does. There might be a 3-5 yard differential in the balls, but that doesn't explain how Palardy isn't even close on 90% of his FGs. He just sucks plain and simple.

I will tend to agree with you mostly. However, I don't believe he totally sucks. The ability is there, however, mentally ... he is screwed up right now.

I worked with Sport Psychologist Dr. Craig Wrisberg throughout my career at Tennessee. We went through all sorts of visualization to help prepare for what it would be like to kick in front of 100,000 people.

From Wilhoit's blog, anyone know if this is happening?

My biggest regret about only attending one game this season (the opener at that) is that I didn't get to see how players looked during warmups, most noticeably Palardy and Darr. I don't doubt he has the ability, but he can't put it together and has shown no signs of being able to do that. Whether that's from lack of having someone out there to work with the kickers or just him not being mentally strong enough to handle the pressure, he sucks.

And we all know if TN will just hurry up and resign with Nike we can get Nike Vapors and be 3 times faster than we are now because Vapors are that awesome. With that extra speed, we wouldn't need FGs and this would be a moot point.

Is he still harping on this? I've heard him rant about this issue for years, now.
Move on, dude.
My college roommate was a kicker at UT before and during Wilhoit's career. He said that he thinks JW is reaching a bit, here.
