Meh. I didn't see much from Lane. I think Neal is the best back on the team. I suppose Lane could've still been hurt, but I don't remember it ever being mentioned in the summer when he was lighting it up in 7v7. JMO
You are entitled to your opinion on Lane, but I saw a lot more promise than you. Most players make the biggest leap in there development between year 1 and 2. I think Marlin comes back more focused, prepared, and ready for the SEC comp. We often forget these guys are barely 18.
Thanks, bro.
Tell me about Richardson, Crowell, Lattimore, and Dyer, Ware, Hilliard, etc. etc. etc. next.
You could be right, and I hope you are. I'm not trying to say he looked awful or anything, just not what I was hoping for. I hope he makes a big leap next year.
I can agree with this. He needs a hard charging compliment to split the carries. And he needs to stop dancing so much himself. His cutting ability and balance will kill most guys in open field. Lane has rare cutting ability for a back his size. He can cut on a dime at full speed without losing speed. The Georgia game was almost a coming out party. He played well in the Arky loss too. He should be a lot better this offseason. He needs a little muscle added on and I think the S&C program will do him some good. Now I do want to see what Alden Hill looks like. If he's a good big back that would be fine. Like Burkhead(I think that's his name) from Nebraska.
I really don't think that CJG is going to tolerate any dance moves in the backfield this year. Based on his game and his coaching style, I think we will go back to North/South running.
Johnny, it would help your argument if you ever ceded ground, but you are dead set on your opinion. My point wasn't I don't want top 5 backs, but it was it is not an absolutely necessity to have a good running game.
Futhermore, there are also top 5's like Darrell Scott, Jason Gwaltney, and Bryce Brown that busted. With that being said, of course I want Davis, but to say that Dooley's success in 2012 hinges on the signing of a top 5 back is sophomoric.
It's not the death of the UT Football program or anything, but Dooley needs to recruit an elite running back. Pretty simple. If he can't, it will cost him his job.
That said, I think the writing is on the wall with the Cross de-commit. Something is locked up. :crossfingers:
Dude. I never said he needed to sign a top 5 back. You're putting words in my mouth to make a point that doesn't exist. I said he needs to sign an elite running back. Come on.

Not to be a grammar cop, but it would help readers if the name of a player is included at least once in every post, to reference he and his. I say this only because your opinons are valued, and I for one would like to know who you are talking about without clicking back for a reference search. So please do not take this as a petty quibble.
