'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

Jmoore, on the flip side he has taken A LOT of unofficials to Knoxville this year. What is it now, 3 or 4?

There's something about K-Town he's liking....

And on the flip side a Va Tech fan could say the same about playing powers like Buffalo, Wyoming, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. Yes UT is in the SEC but no where near the top of the conference so it doesnt really make a difference right now.

Va Tech is not a bad choice so dont try to make it out to be. The kid is from there, grew up with them. We knock TN kids for wanting to go out of state but when someone like Korren decides, if he does, to choose his home school its a dump and hes an idiot.

Take the homer glasses off dude.

I agree fully most people on here think everyone should play for ut.but if you was born iin barea ky you would think the same for ky.i would love for kervin to sign at ut but i went to a school that had nearly identical colors as ut and our biggest rivals wore blue and white,so i bleed orange.but people got to realize players grow up almost all of the time pulling for a team near them and as we all know tennessee has never had much instate recruit.and kirvin is from va so va tech or virginia would have been his teams.unless he is like alot of people who switch favorite teams more often than underware.were i live in north east tennessee it is 65% vol fans,in basketball 33% ky fans and 2% duke or north carolina.and in football its 93% vol and 7%ky or other.and for people in other states its probally the same most pull for nearest team and a minority pull for other teams.

That's true but a lot of factors are in VTs corner on this one. I do think Tennessee is #2 behind them though.

Which definitely gives us a chance...this time last year we would have been happy to be second for Curt Maggitt.

We get another official and anything can happen here!:good!:

Great point on Maggitt, Eric. I remember seeing his video at the airport after the visit thinking that we finished strong, but not strong enough to land him. This staff can flat out close, and with Sirmon we're better this year.

I'm not saying we'll get Kirven (I've thought of him as a VT lock) but I wouldn't be shocked if we land him at this point. Love the recruiting by this staff!

Brookeville is a Hokie area. Logan Thomas, the QB at tech is from Brookville so I am sure he has alot of pressure to stay home. But it is still early for him from reading the article on rivals and I don't think he is for sure were he wants to go. I think he really likes the coaches and the gameday atmosphere at UT. You never know with these kids. I do think we may not be on top but I think we have a shot. The #'s are going to be a problem for us. We can't take all these guys. We have a ton of kids left on the board and there is only so many spots....

I tend to agree. We are far from being out of this and reading between the lines I believe we have a better chance for Kirven than most folks now think.

He has stated that we will definitely get one of his officials and it sounds like we now stand as a solid #2 for him with some momentum. Dooley and the staff have demonstrated time after time that Tennessee is very good on official visits and Dooley is perhaps even better on the home visits. It is too early to count us out -- it appears to me that we have at worst a fighting chance. After all, if you considered yourself an elite DT, would you rather play in the ACC or the SEC? No contest.

I know this thread is about Kirven, but who do you like better Mccullers or Sentimore. We have a better chance at Sentimore, but Mccllers is a big run stopper we need.

Just noticed where Korven was offered by Penn State and recruited by MIKE MCQUEARY. I wonder if he is finding hard to recruit while in protective custody...

Bad news for korren, just had surgery on his ankle going to miss the state championship game. I wonder if the injury will effect his recruiting
