Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just read this on the VN homepage. According to CPF, the Vols plan on using a no huddle offense next season. Thoughts?

I think it will help our entire offense. It should throw some other teams off in the process. Our running game should show immediate results from the no huddle due to the ability to wear down defenses a lot quicker. I am kinda surprised we are going with it, but I think we should have gone no huddle a lot last year, so I'm happy with the decision

Depends on whether or not Fulmer plans on running more then 8 plays with it. :ermm:

i think this is a good move by CPF since defenses have to change their gameplan just for the tenn game...also this type of offense would not work without a senior QB.

It hink Fulmer is tired of seeing the same offense that he has for the last 8 years.

surely you jest

I imagine in Fulmer's mind, the 3 WR, 1 TE, single RB set from last year was a radical departure from the offset I formation.

Here we go again...........
I had a feeling this would turn into a negative thread, that is why I almost didn't post it.

Sidenote: This post will probably receive a post asking who is being negative, just being a realist, or Fulmer sucks.

Had nothing to do with that, trust me.

I think he was referencing that school had let out for the day.

Doesn't this mean that we will definitely see non-2007 signees as starters at WR? I mean, it's hard enough to come into a BCS conference and learn an offense, much less into a no huddle.

Or am I missing something?

Good point. Besides I have never known Fulmer as a coach that is really into starting freshman. I am sure there are exceptions, but I just don't view him as a coach that is into that idea.

I had the same reaction. A few of the WRs are enrolling early, I think. That should help their chances.

Our WR dynamic is so weird. A ton of top-rated talent, and literally mere minutes of experience.

 I bet CPF and Cut saw how the no huddle can produce mismatches on opposing defenses by watching some Colts' games this year. They saw it first hand at the Super Bowl. :twocents:

They might not have to worry about the freshmen starting if Rogers, Taylor, or Briscoe...etc. step up. They can employ a I-formation two WR set one play then next set up in a 3 WR set with the TE in the slot i.e. Colts using Dallas Clark. I mean the TE position is talented this year. You have Brown, Cottom Brothers and maybe Brandon Warren. So basically they can only go with 2 WR early in the season until the freshmen learn the offense.:detective:

Todd Campbell is the only WR enrolled early. Art Evans is enrolled and played some WR in HS but he is going to be tried at DB first and will probably find his home there.

The talent is there to run the no-huddle, it's the lack of timing between the QBs and WRs due to inexperiened WRs that concerns me.
