Potential RB Coach - Gerald Brown

Isn't everyone saying Sirmon is our best recruiter this year? Hell, not only had he never recruited at a high level (on the road), he'd never recruited.

If this guy can get NFL players to buy into what he's teaching, he can recruit.

Sirmon has been coaching in college since 2009. He actually started out as an assistant at Central Washington in 2008, before becoming a GA with Oregon in 2009. So, it's not like he's not recruited before, and he was helping to recruit in the Pac-12 and SEC, before becoming the full-time coach his season.

Great arguments. I would take either. Neither may want to come here. Neither will be available until the bowl and NFL seasons are over.

I'd love it! Gerald & Mike Smith (Falcons' HC) were on the Tennessee Tech staff together under then-HC the late Jim Ragland...my 1st cousin.

We have recruiters we need guys to coach them up. Gimme Brown anyday over Graham.

Brown would be equal to Graham in recruiting if not better. When a previous NFL coach walks into to a kids living room it really opens their eyes.

IDK. Closing maybe but evaluation takes a lot of time and effort also. Supposedly that is one of the gripes with Baggett. NFL coaches are used to a lot of time put into preparation and planning and probably log longer hours than most college coaches but some don't have the passion for recruiting and it's unique demands that it takes to be successful. Still others struggle to connect with high school kids and their families. I think some are just thinking you can walk in and flash an NFL resume and have recruits lining up to sign on the dotted line.

Brown was contacted but stated he is happy with the Falcons and the timing didn't work. Jay Graham is a homerun hire IMO.
