summitt hands down. you can always replace a coach, but you cant replace a legend. go ask any athlete in the nation in any sport male or female. from swimming to gymnastics and 9 out of 10 people can tell you who pat summitt is and where she coaches. ask the same about pearl or fulmer and i garan dog tee ya they wont know who your talking about....

You "garan dog tee" that athletes around the nation don't know who Phil Fulmer or Bruce Pearl are?

Any chance you might be exaggerating just a bit?

You vastly overrate how much attention people pay to women's basketball. There's a reason the women's Final Four is on cable.

If you could only keep one coach at the UT, who would it be? you also have to take into consideration how important the sport is to the school.

ill say bruce pearl.

I think most people have missed the intial question this thread. Notice where he said "take into consideration how important the sport is too the school."

With that, UT could survive without a strong women's or men's basketball team. Football provides more revenue for every sport than all the other sports provide for Football put together. I know most are in disagreement with Fulmer and want to see him replaced but he is the most important coach at UT by far...

I would make a witty comment about the majority of women knowing nothing about sports, but you make it to easy and take all of the fun out of it.

The WNBA is in bad shape for the future.. But, women's college hoops has taken a steady rise in the ratings the past two years.. I'm not saying it's on the level of the men's,(far from it) but it still generates more revenue and attention then some give it credit for..JMO

Yes, that steady rise now has it on the ratings level of World's Strongest Man replays and powerboat racing. Very impressive.

Going by the numbers, it has hat.. Now it won't generate quite as much attention that the men's game on "Big Monday" that comes on ESPN monday nites, so it has to moved be shown on ESPN2.. But, it is taking a steady rise in numbers and revenue whether you want to admit it or not.

Going from 144 viewers across the nation to 279 doesn't really impress me. The product is so bad that the only good thing about women's basketball, Stacey Dales, has essentially abandoned them for the men's game.

Come on now hat, there were thousands who watched Lady Vols and LSU last nite.. Dales was offered more to join that cast.. All I'm saying is that it is steadily growing, and it mite have a chance to be close to men's ball one day.. We'll see..

The allstar game will have a lay up contest:rock:

There's actually about 8 women that can dunk in college and in the WNBA.. So that kinda throws the lay up contest out the door..
If you call what they do dunking, you need to get higher standards. I'm sure people would be glued to their TV sets to watch Candace Parker and Michelle Snow dunk the tennis ball the women use just over the rim. Riveting stuff.

Meanwhile...back to the original question.....

Hard to argue that Fulmer or Pearl have done as much for their sports as Summitt has for hers.

Then again, Pearl hasn't really been here long enough, and Fulmer.....

Never mind.

Go Vols.

I'm gonna play your role for a minute hat.. Why is that Michelle Snow can dunk two handed if she can only dunk a tennis ball.. I can remember as a little boy seeing Michelle dunk in Memorial against Candy one nite here in Nashville.. And that was about 7 years ago I think. But your right, I guees they do use tennis balls when they play...

Two handed, off a dead stop, jumping off two feet. Call me when someone in the women's game dunks a rebound. There's a simple reason ESPN shows poker and Madden Nation instead of women's basketball. Outside of Knoxville, Storrs, and about 5 other places, nobody cares.

Then why do they show the women's tournament games on ESPN and ESPN2? Like I said, ratings are steadily rising.. I'll try and post the numbers a little later for you since you seem to be so stubborn to face the facts..:birgits_giggle:
