Agree to respect Dooley as a person and the current coach of the Vols. Do not agree to candy coat my comments when he holds nothing back about the players in the media. For every "source" for the guy there are others against. Mine said that the conflicts are real and disturbing. I personally wish he would stay quiet and tell the media he is too busy fixing what went wrong to discuss at this point. His sarcastic comments and silly illustrations add nothing to his credibility as head coach of a tradition rich program. If he wants support then do the tough stuff and quit blowing back on everything else as an excuse.

At this point he is confirming to everybody that he is over his head. He needs to make some bold moves to change that. Status quo has us losing to Kentucky and getting blown out by the better teams.

You've got to understand how the sunshine pumpers see sources. The relevance of the source, to them, is in direct relation to the willingness of the source to drop on their knees and blindly kiss the head coach's ass.

Anyone who is critical of Dooley is not credible in their eyes. The buck simply doesn't stop at Dooley. To the CFL's, the buck always stops at a poster or two on VN.

I think after another solid possibly top 10 recruiting class by Dooley we will be much improved. He is a great recruiter and it shows. After a couple upgrades on the staff plus better talent if we still just win 6 games next year then we'll have our answer, that Dooley can't get it done.

Ignore the performance. Blame the fans.

No doubt the fans are the folks responsible for teaching our kicker and punter this year. No doubt Dewey Warren is to blame for the failure of the offensive coaching staff to prepare a veteran offensive line to open up holes and run the ball against Kentucky. And who else can be blamed for constantly downing players and projecting blame on the team in public than some poster on a message board?

It is truly sad. Next time OP, drop Dooley a letter and address your remarks at the beginning of the 3rd paragraph to him. In spite of your beliefs to the contrary, he is accountable for the performance of this program.

Yes... Dooley should have been out there with his soccer cleats giving kicking pointers. You don't coach kicking, kickers just kick. Kicking is a mental thing. Kind of like golf, you can go out and hit every fairway and every green and think you've got it. The next day you shoot a 102... It just happens with kickers sometimes.

I am behind Dooley. He took over a job nobody wanted. I knew it was going to take a few years to fix. These ones on here bashing Dooley probaly sits on the couch and plays playstation all the time. These are kids people. Not a NFL team that you can go sign a free agent. (Unless your Auburn) Cam.

But if you don't support the head coach, who's doing a terrible job, then you're not a UT fan......

All of these reports and rumors of "Dooley has lost the locker room" or "the players hate Dooley" couldn't be further from the truth and honestly shows how awful and ignorant some of our fan base truly has become.

I am best friends with several members of this team, one a starter. I talk to him every week and he assures me that they players respect and like Dooley. Sure during a sub par year with a lot of adversity there are going to be rifts on every team, that's to be expected when everyone cares about something and you come up short. And yes, there are always going to be a few when times get tough that start pointing the finger (Rodgers) He tells me what this team lacked and desperately needed was leadership among the players, which never came.

Maybe if our so called fans quit bashing the absolute crap out of 18-22 year old kids and actually cheered for and not against our team and our coach, it would help these boys relax. Derek Dooley stepped into a job that NOBODY wanted. It's that simple... I'm not saying he's the next Nick Saban, but the man deserves our respect and support for AT LEAST another year before our fan base starts to show this level of ignorance and insanity toward him and our program.

I am not sitting here saying he has done everything right, but the guy has represented us with class and has worked his butt off to try to bring in the best talent he can recruiting wise, which will help us get better the quickest b/c we have VERY LITTLE talent on our roster. As I've mentioned before, you cannot expect to win games especially in this conference with two or three good players. Then, when two of the three go down with injuries you have to accept that that's football and play with what you have and not be shocked when Dooley cannot pull out a miracle.

Give this man a chance. Next year if we don't see signs of improvement (that's doesn't mean winning the SEC championship) then all of you so called fans can begin to question Dooley and whether or not he is the guy for the job... These are hard times on Rocky Top and this past season did not go as the fans had hoped, but quit acting like a bunch of crazed ignorant fools and either get on board and accept this past year for what it was, or leave and go torment someone else's program.

i suppose that anybody stupid enough to think dooley is an sec quality coach is stupid enough to swallow this hogwash.

fwiw: on the hogville (arkansas) board they're crying in their beer because it looks like the conference expansion will take the vols off their schedule next year. the thinking is that dooley is in over his head and the game would amount to a light scrimmage for their team. they want to catch tennessee before he gets canned (which he assuredly will be, be it now, next year, or two years from now.)

Wouldn't the players appreciate it if Dooley would quit bashing them as well?

He's got a lot more folks listening to what he says than any of us here (except Freak :hi:) has.

Haha doing a terrible job? According to whom? He's doing a terrible job bc he cannot win with what NO top name coach wanted to come in and try to win with? He's doing a terrible job after losing his best player before the year started, never having his best linebacker, losing his most explosive offesive weapon, not having his all-sec qb for 5 weeks and playing every freshman but 5?!

Man you really understand and know football like no other... Maybe you and Buckingham can get together and talk about how you would magically do better with what Dooley an co. Had to work with. Thank you for illustrating the ignorance I was talking about.

Introduce yourself to anything written or said about George Cafego sometime, then get back to me on how kicking and punting can't be coached.

I like the original post. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. There is no college football team where 100% of players like a coach. Losing brings out the worst in kids and creates factions within any team.

Not according to the Doolaid drinkers. It's good to embarass yourself and your team on national television because he's being honest. Well, let's all sit back and be HONEST here. We have a coach that wants to blame everyone else and not take the blame like a leader of a team should do. Instead we here constant bashing and excuses about injuries.

Please. Saban faced all the same criticisms and look what he did. What jim bob in greenville, tn thinks doesn't mean **** if the coach does his job correctly.

I don't think what the jim bob's that call in to vol calls think means anything period regardless of the job the coach is doing. That is why he is jim bob calling from greenville. Wait for it ..........Wait for it.........I hear the phone ringing now and caller ID tells me......you guessed it........Jim Bob

You're illustrating enough ignorance with thinking this guy didnt get outcoached by Joker Phillips and can't get this team fired up to play a full 60 minutes of football.

It is leadership from behind. If Tennessee wins, then Dooley got it done. If Tennessee loses, then it is the fault of the players, the fans, Neyland's statue, the toilets in Alumni Gym, or the Big Orange Screw.

This is exactly what I'm getting, too, and not rumors either. I'm not saying that OP's friend is not telling him what is being posted by him, but there are clearly some issues with MANY players and the Coach. Hopefully, he can address them if he is allowed to continue. Hide your head in the sand if you wish, but big morale issues exist.

I haven't saw one post of somebody not supporting the team. Why can't some of you get that through your heads? Our coaching sucks and we want what's best for the players so we take it out on the coach and rightfully so.

Did you just insinuate that the people who are bashing the coaches on this board just "want what's best for the players"?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
