Ohio State is # 1 now!

That ranking is a total joke. The voters LOVE Greg Odom, a/k/a Daddy LeBron.

The Badgers straight up whooped OSU (...OK, by 3 pts), and thus deserve the top spot.

Doesn't mean anything, but it's still silly. I guess Ohio State has rattled off 10+ wins in a row since losing to Wisconsin, getting demolished by Florida, and outran by UNC.

All games on the road, of course. I'd like to see OSU play all of those games again on a neutral court at full strength.

Ohio State gets the advantage in football and basketball.

Is this scenario possible:

Florida vs Ohio State for National Championship in Basketball ( just like in football)?

I suspect the results will be much the same, if that's the case

Florida beat Ohio State by 27 in Football.
Florida beat Ohio State by 26 in Basketball.

I really don't think Ohio State wants anything to do with Florida right about now.

I can't wait to see if Pearl & the Vols can pull of the upset against Florida though so we can talk some trash again. It sucks living in Gator Country when they are winning everything. :banghead2:

I agree the Badgers should be #1 but since we have a tourny the rankings are just for discussions.

None of it means anything until the brackets come out.. Anybody who has truly watched Ohio State, knows they have not proven to be the number one team this year..
They have lost to, Carolina, Wisconsin, and Florida..
I honestly don't think they will even make the elite 8 this year..

You're right, but it proves that we can play with the #1 team in the country at their place. I guess you don't think confidence has a lot to do with how basketball players fare.

The way we lost that game could not have done anything for our confidence.

Weren't we talking about how that game should have helped our confidence for later in the season / postseason? Why would good confidence linger?

Oh no I'm not saying there's any momentum from that game. But, if they go up against a top seed in the tourney, then it might inspire them to know that they can play with the big boys, since we have at times this season.

Dare I say this team reminds me of last year's UNC team?? (Aside from the losing to George Mason)

I can't say that.. Tyler was a dominating big as a freshmen.. Wayne and Duke are not quite there yet.. Wayne has been playing much better here of late(excluding Saturday). But, if they make good progress here in the next few weeks, then maybe I can understand your comparison..:shades:

Granted, we don't have a guy like Hansborough, but I see Dane as a guy like David Noel, who usually played within himself. Their freshman class (aside from psycho T) wasn't quite as good as ours. Ramar is 1000x better than Frasor, Tabb and Ginyard are about the same (even this year), Duke is more valuable to us than Green, and Wayne and Duke together can equal out TH when they play like last tuesday.

Lofton is far superior to Rashaun Terry, and Howell is about as serviceable as Wes Miller. Childress is well, Childress, but he's good for 5 fouls, 5 boards, a 3 pointer, and a charge right?

Yeah, but that UNC team played better D, where Noel is about 3 light years ahead of DB.

While I agree Dane SUCKS this year, he can still do things that we need to be done. Obviously the two teams are not completely comparable, but there are some favorable similarities. What then kills my argument is probably what was the #1 recruiting class of this year.

Btw, Odom said that at the halfway point of the season...and I bet he doesn't think it after seeing the awful DB performance on Sat.
