Here are some quotes from therealUT about Peyton. He had said he would take Brady over Manning without hesitation. Brady didn't look so great this year, I wonder if he still feels the same!

I watch when it counts, in the playoffs. I can't say I have been impressed with Peyton beyond the Wild Card round.

Montana compares very well to Brady. Most importantly, both Montana and Brady could march their teams down the field for the win.

Manning is the exact opposite. He comes into games hot. He throws TDs early and often. Yet, he barely ever makes waves in the 4th quarter with a game on the line.

That being said, I would rather have a guy that can win ugly, then someone who puts up pretty statistics, yet has never shown the fortitude and composure to come back in the big game.

Brady has done more less than Peyton. As much as I like Peyton and was glad to see him as a UT Vol I still believe Brady is the better QB when it counts.

Peyton's threw 3 TD's to 7 INT's in the playoffs...Even you can admit that is pretty terrible...

Not to discount what Peyton did and I was so happy that he finally go the monkey off his back so to say but even the most die-hard Peyton fan will tell you that his Postseason play is a far cry from how he performs in the regular season...

He realized he could lean on his defense in the postseason and could manage games instead of trying to win them by himself

:eek:lol: How do you constitute 7 INT's then?

I think five of those were passes thrown in Marvin Harrison's direction. I'm not trying to make excuses for Manning, but Marvin hasn't done anything in the playoffs his entire career. He's supposed to catch everything in his vicinity, but in the playoffs, he seems to always let the defender take the ball from him, or make a cut that Peyton wasn't expecting. I have no way of telling if any of those picks were because of an error by Harrison, but it just seemed like things worked a lot better when he threw it to Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark.

That may be a fair assessment but it's hard to argue the numbers......

It is hard to argue the numbers but Marvin seemed like he wasn't even in some of those games. He threw 2 deep passes against the Bears 1st was picked 2nd was a TD to Wayne. The rest of the night he picked them apart with checkoffs to Addai (10 receptions). He did this against the Pats too.

I agree however his playoff performances do not even compare with Tom Brady...thats all I was getting at...

Manning was better when it counted last time. Honestly, if you look back at the Colts' season, you will notice that they nearly lost almost all of their first 9 games. Manning was ridiculously clutch during that stretch. Suppose he had made one less play and the Colts had lost one of those games. The Patriots would then be a higher playoff seed. The playoff game would be in New England. Who knows what would have happened then. Manning was clutch all last season. He made the plays that counted in the playoffs.

I never disputed this...not sure where it is coming from...

All I was getting at is if you look at the complete picture and look at all of Brady's playoff performances and all of Manning's there is no comparison even for the most die-hard UT fan...

However, if we look at the most recent meeting, Brady threw an interception at the most crucial moment of the game.... whereas, Manning brought the Colts back from a big deficit for the win. Remember, this is a what have you done for me lately world.

That's a fair statement but I was saying as a whole...:good!:

Since this started with a discussion of this year's numbers in the playoffs (3TD/7INT) an examination of the numbers doesn't show much difference.

Brady 5TDs/4INTs (including game sealing INT for a loss)
QB rating 76.5

Manning 3TDs/7INTs (includes game winning drive against Patriots)
QB rating 70.5

QB ratings even in head to head match-up. Brady's performance was highest against the Jets (QBR 101.6) was mediocre against SD (57.6).

Manning's QB ratings showed an upward trend with the Baltimore game being the lowest (39.6) and the Superbowl being the highest (81.8).

Manning faced the #1, #5, #6 and #16 ranked defenses in the playoffs; Brady faced the #10, #20 and #21st ranked defenses.

Much of the knock on Manning was a myth. He has played outstanding in the playoffs (see Denver game with a perfect QB rating) and poorly (see NE game with 3 TDs). Likewise, Brady has had great games and poor games. The biggest difference between these teams has been the surrounding cast.

I'm a die-hard UT fan but you can't argue 3 rings to 1.

And I will disagree with this on the basis that when the Patriots won the Super Bowl the Colts had a more talented team...

thank you. i love how people just pretend that the receiving corp and rb's peyton has are nobodies. meanwhile all those high profile receivers tom brady has are the second coming of tim brown and jerry rice.

1 player does not make a team. Brady has won more Super Bowls because his team played better. To say all the blame for the Colts not winning till now should not be placed all on Peyton and Brady should not get all the credit for the 3 rings he owns. Who knew about the tuck rule before the Pats played the Raiders? The Pats have also had some lucky breaks along the way.

You could say the whole offense pulled a choke job not just Peyton in the playoffs. Coulda woulda shoulda whatever speculate all you want. The Pats put a better team on the field the times they beat the Colts.

I was referring more to the defensive talent on those pat's teams verses the Colts. If Pm had traveled to the playoffs this year with the same defense they started the season with he wouldn't have made it to the show again.
