In bball it's obvious; it would be Lofton. In football my pick would be Eric Westmoreland. He was the last player offered in his class.

That's a horrible myth... I went to MCHS, and was good friends with Eric, played basketball with him, and rode to school with him everyday.

Fulmer came to our school at least 4 times Eric's senior year in the fall... Eric had committed to UT and had been offered a scholarship early during basketball season. He hadnt made it known very widely at that point, but the announcer at Notre Dame HS knew, and called out Eric as a future Vol in pregame intros.

I saw written correspondents from EVERY major college program to Eric... IF I didnt know it for a fact, I'd think it was highly unlikely he was "last" by looking at how sought after he was.

Trust me, I have seen many very good HS'ers, Eric is, was, and as far as I know, always will be the best. He dominated the field on both sides of the ball and carried MC on his back if need be. MCHS lost 1 game in his 4 years, just let that soak in. Eric was a Vol long before signing day.

Eric is helping Kevin Cooper, signee of 07, get in shape :)

I think he is more preparing him mentally... Helping him understand what he's about to face...

Eric was cocky as hell in HS, but was humbled alot at UT... I was friends with his brother in HS, but became good friend with Eric at UT, he character developed like something I've never seen. Im very proud to know him.

Right there with Chris Simms.

They played different positions and all, but Cadillac was better. He broke some of Bo Jackson's records. He was also a top 5 pick in the draft. Also, we had a good QB in Casey Clausen, so we didn't need Simms so much. Considering how weak our running game was during most of Carnell's college career, he could have really helped us out.

Probably true. There's no disputing that the difference between Casey Clausen and Chris Simms was nowhere near as great as the difference between Houston/Riggs/Davis and Cadillac Williams although our running game in 2004 was pretty formidable.

You're right. Our running backs ended up being good, but we had to wait three/four years for them to produce. Cadillac was productive his entire career, except for when he broke his leg. Enter another UT hijack, Ronnie Brown.

Ramar Smith wasn't signing day, but the fact that he decommitted from UCONN might end up being just as big as, if not bigger than Lofton.

He decommitted from UCONN??? Wow. That is HUGE. It speaks volumes for Bruce Pearl. Ramar is going to be so so so so so good. He already has the instincts, he just needs work on timing and technique. He learned the PG position so incredibly fast, he must be a smart kid.

He also needs to learn how to lay it up.

But yeah, he went to a prep school called South Kent in Connecticut and left after less than a semester in part because "There were too many trees. It didn't seem like home, like the city."

I went to school for a little bit at Kent School which is 10 miles away from there and I can tell you that it is a HUGE difference from Detroit.

It was more so Tony Jones than Bruce Pearl who got Ramar. Tony has a huge influence on Detroit since he was a coach at a smaller school up North and bailed out a bunch of lower tier kids by giving them a chance to play college basketball. As HatVol has said, if we can recuit the Detroit area, that would pay huge dividends.
