1.Coach Cutt will have another year with Erick Ainge and Johnathan Crompton

2. Troop will develop not just 2 or 3 talented receivers but about 6 or 7 possibles ( imagine the rotation ) WHEW !

3. Coach Chavis will have a faster defense with alot more talent.

4. No need to worry about our kicker if we get some balls with the play calling, we may not need as many field goals!)

5. Coker, Foster, Creer, Hardesty will push one another and make the other better.

If the developnment and playcalling goes as planned, don't be suprise if 11 months from now if we're in The BCS National Championship ( wishful thinking ) however 2008 I think we will do it !

Didn't Cutcliffe talk last year before the season about cutting down on the "rotation"?

Think he will try it again? a more than 4 WR rotation that is.

Also don't forget about Cottam. He came on at the end of the year. He could get in for a long one under the radar from time to time next season.

some of those receivers will be our athletes coming in that we have to get the ball in their hands

I don't see how he can narrow it down considering the position is such a huge question mark. If I were him, I'd try to have them all ready this coming season..

Very true, but after spring and summer practices Cutcliffe will know his "4" and they will see the bulk of playing time.

Don't we all.

Not me.

We emphasized team speed instead of tater-tot bulk even at the big-bubba positions and it resulted in a better season than we could've rightfully expected considering our key injuries.

To me, the natural extension of that philosophy is to rotate more WR's (and even other skill positions). We came up with a system to promote speed without losing strength where needed, so why not capitalize and try to wear people the hell out. Create a "Prime Time" 4 of WRs to motivate that squad, but why not also work to keep the next 2 or 3 slavering at the bit and primed to break upward by keeping them in rotation- simaltaneously straining opponent's secondary's?

When Cutcliffe left, we all crowed about the idea that we were losing an over-conservative attitude. I like him for his ability to implement Fulmer's limited imagination, but I don't see any reason to re-write history and suddenly applaud him for conservatism- especially not when he and Fullmer and the other members of the coaching team just did a better-than-expected job in 2006 by stepping outside of their normal box.

If we could create a 6 WR rotation that was balls to the wall wearing people out then I'd be all for it.

I'm saying that it's hard to get 6 players in there without some kind of drop in talent from your main 2-3 and Ainge has to get accustomed to 6 different recievers. I just don't see that happening.

Look at last year Rogers, Taylor, Meachem, Smith, Swain, Briscoe. I'm sure that 6 man tandem could put a hurting on the legs of a DB corps, but that drop in talent from Meachem to Rogers is huge.

I know we have great talent comming in but they're young. That's why I say get your 4 best and most consistant WR's out there and rotate them.

I'm not saying bench #5 and #6. I'm saying let them play when other WR's need a breather, or come up limping. If possible let the "Prime Time" 4 see 80-85% of the offensive plays, maybe more if they are fit.

All those points are great and I hate to be neg. but I just wish we could get someone to coach all those good looking DBs. If we had someone of the Caliber of the Troop to work with the Defensive Secondary wow how great that would be.:pepper:

This is a great thread - finally positive talk. I agree that the vols will be strong in 2007. With a few breaks, we could run the table.

I think we will see at most a four receiver rotation. All the guys will fight it out until the four are found, then they will get all of the 1st team work and individuals with EA. You can't have EA on the same page with eight different recievers.

Actually, this season, I suspect we'll see at least one 1,000 yd rusher. And I won't be suprised to have two.

That's what it takes alongside some good play. Every national champ can go back through the season and chronicle every spot where fortune smiled on them and had the shoe dropped on the other side.....

Only ones I can think of where this might not be true is Nebraska team that killed everybody and UF the following season that steamrolled everyone

the running game has the most opportunity to excel this season. if the O line gets better, with the RB's we have right now, the running game could be back to our bread and butter.

and while i agree with getting the playmakers on the feild, one thing i think we learned in 05 was that the development of the relationship between qb and wr is important. i think you'll see 4 with a max at 6 WR's that will contribute on a consistent basis. last season was a daparture from 05 in that there were 3 main guys that EA worked with. that number could increase, but rythem and timing are impoartant in this offense, and someone brought it up already, but don't forget about Cottam. i really expect him to be more of a factor as a pass cather, so i would expect him to be in the rotation as well.

the great thing about what we have and what we have coming in is we have options. after our big 3 this past season, the options were limited. now with Vinson, Paige, Hancock, Jones and the like, it would seem that the talent pool is greater to choose from.

however, if we are rotating in 7-8 receivers... i think that tells me more about what we don't have, than it does about what we do have.

I will admit, with the class we signed, I feel better about 2007. Usually when we sign a great class, we know in 2 years, they'll be ready to play. However, this class has a large number of guys who will help NOW.

2007 will be our best year out of the next ... 4 or so, in my opinion, that we can win the SEC Title. We WILL be talented in 2008, 2009, etc, but Florida's classes have been better than ours, so who knows how well we will fare.

As for what else to look for - interesting plays. Yeah, Cutcliffe wasn't all that unique in his first go'round, but he seemed a little different this season. He still had some moments where he tried too hard to protect a late lead, but in the first 3 quarters, he seemed a little more interesting that years prior.

What I expect to see, or hope to see, are some intiricate screens to G. Jones, O'Neal, and Vinson. I hope to see a 2 back backfield, but with Coker/Foster/Hardesty/Creer being back there. That would be fun.

I expect a lot more done in terms of deep slants instead of short outs, deep seams, and deep fades. If you watch a lot of football, you'll notice Tennessee exposes the middle of the field less than most top tier programs. I expect everything to change. Honestly, I really do.

If we play in the BCS championship, I'll change my name to Danny Wuerffel.

Great! Two questions 1) Can we beat UF?
2) Will we havwe a BCS national championship type defensive lin where games are won and lost?

I do think our offense will be capable of scoring a lot of points.

Kind of like the old saying if you have 2 quarterbacks you don't have one

Before Lawgator comes to the defense of Florida's Leak/Tebow National Championship quarterback system. Tebow was a fullback lining up at QB and if you take away his clean up work vs. UCF and Western Carolina his actual QB stats are comparable to Darren McFaddens QB'ing action.
