I'm sorry, I seem to recall that the thread was about hatvol's position on the issue of Manning, so sorry if I thought it relevant to point out what I thought hatvol was saying in my own answer to the question posed.
Ummm, yeah, so you might want to consider context next time before criiticzing.
As to the general principle at issue, it is painfully obvious that the question of who is the "better" quarterback (as between Manning or Martin, or as between Leak and Manning) depends on your crtieria. I happen to believe that it should be a mix of statistically-sound ability along with that certain unquantifiable ability to win in the most important circumstances.
The question that was posed before is who do you pick if you are drafting in the NFL and I said Manning, hands down. All I was saying is that it really does not matter to me, if I'm a UT fan, that I had the best and most talented quarterback in the history of history, if my team did not win the critical games. To the contrary, if I had the best players, then it irks me that we didn't win when it counted.
If you are using the ability to lead one's team to victory in the critical situation, then Leak was "better" than Manning. Its just a question of what matters to you. You can have all the first round draft picks you want -- I'll take championships over that any day.
