I just want our fans to give back as good as they got from the crown down in Gainesville. Between the cheers of:
"Sweat-y Bruce"
"Just like football"
and
"Bridgette's better"
and the photos of Bridgette Bradshaw, I think we owe the Gators a nice response. Turnabout is fair play, of course. Plus, it's good for the rivalry.
We also owe it to Noah to taunt him in his native tongue. Some of the students have to be taking French right now - perhaps they can come up with rather clever ways to talk about his family members, and/or his legitimacy and/or farm animals.
Hey, Freak, can you get some of the students to put on big black wigs pulled into a pony-tail, and then black out their front teeth? That would be a nice welcome for Noah.
They could wear shirts that say "Vive le C.J.!"
Look, we missed a lot of years since 89 that we had nothing to cheer about, and I mean nothing. There are lots of dumb traditions around. My take is if our students like it and it gets them involved, I'm all for it.What was it hat was complaining abut the other day? The old "read the newspaper" gimmick? Abandoned by most other schools in about 1989. You guys still doing that?

Regardless, you were offering advice to our fans on how to act civil by not making fun of Noah, not advice on new cheers. I might listen to the cheer ideas from a Gator but not a lecture in fan decency.
Whoa whoa whoa there cowboy. Hat was the one who complained. I've never been to a UT game (in Knoxville) so I don't know for sure what he's talkin' 'bout. I assumed it was the thing I did at Florida back in '82-'86, where we pretended to read the newspaper while the other team is introduced. In context, that's what hat seemed to be alluding to and he called it lame, or some such adjective.
My whole point is, do what you want. In fact, the harsher you are, I think the better. I want you to taunt us because our biggest foe that night will not be UT bball, it will be our own let down and complacency.
I think you might be surprised. It might be that they are overly confident against a coach that they are 1-2 against. Or it could be the revenge factor in our favor for leaving your starters in at the end of the game.
Florida's biggest enemy right now is over-confidence. I genuinely think that the best way for us to battle that is to be given a hard time on the opponents' floor. Give us something to prove.
I think FSU and Kansas gave you a pretty good road test.
I think we will give you a good game at TBA. It's our last home game and Lofton should be at full speed by then. Hopefully the freshman will have grown up a little more.
Condescension is a dish best served cold.
more searing insight from the geeky non-athletic type. trying to turn coach-speak garbage into something you're willing to quote will rarely win you any kudos from those with even a modicum of understanding.Big article in Orlando Sentinel today about how Florida -- particularly Noah -- is feeding off of the hostility in opposing teams' venues.
Usually, getting on the opposition or making noise or trying to interfere has the effect of intimidating your opponent or disrupting their momentum. Not so with Florida. They know they have a huge target on their collective back. They welcome the energy of you giving them your best shot -- and then crushing you like a bug, anyway.
