If Peyton Manning stayed 8 more seasons to complete a 16 year career. At the rate he is going...

This would be what his stats would look like.

- 16 Years

- 75,172 Yards

- 550 Touchdowns, and 278 Int's.

- 2 SuperBowl Rings.



So at this rate, Peyton Manning is gonna become the greatest Quarterback ever to play the game holding numerous NFL Records.

As a former Dolphins fan (in the era of Griese and Mercury Morris), I implore you and all others to stop using Dan Marino as a gauge for greatness in quarterbacks. That's like judging automobiles relative to a Honda Civic. Great mechanically, but not going to catch anyone's eye as the best dadgum car around.

i think this is a discussion best left after his career is done.

i do think though that he now enters the discussion.

and don't forget tom brady....as much a i hate the guy, it's not like he's going to fall of the face of the earth.

and while everyone likes rings and stats, there's also the intangibles that you get measured by.....

I was just stating the fact that Marino is the greatest statistical Quarterback ever. At this rate Manning will blow by all of his stats and records.

I think Manning will be ok with the Rings, I think he gets atleast one more.

...and yes I know this is better left until after it's all said and done, but just like everybody else, I'm just bringing it up for a Topic.

The only reason Marino had all those stats is because of a long career in which he couldn't/didn't want to call run plays.

Law's car analogy is pretty dead-on with him.

As far as Peyton goes, if he does continue at this blistering pace and wins another Super Bowl or two, he probably will be recognized as the greatest of all time.

But who knows such things? Hold this thread for when Peyton hangs up his shoulder pads for the last time.

manning has got a long way to go to be up there with joe montana. its waay too early to even talk about this right now. get back to me in about 6 or 7 years.

This is an idiotic post. Marino on those 49er teams of Montana wins as many rings as anyone else.

How did the defenses of those SB teams rank for the QBs on your list?

I don't think it will turn out exactly like this, but if he ends up with 75,000 yards, 550 touchdowns, and another ring it would be extremely difficult to not say he is number 1 all time. Not only would he be breaking those records but smashing them.

However, I think that he knows he has already gotten to the top once, and I think he will finish his career with about 3 or 4 rings even if he doesn't reach those milestones.

I know Bradshaw had the benefit of the Steel Curtain, Farve had Reggie Whiteand company, Brady's Pats D were pretty good at knocking people around, and last night the Colts D was pretty darn good (still can't believe how bad they sucked during the season).

I agree that he probably won't have 75,000 yards and 550 touchdowns, but I was just saying "at this rate".


I think he will end up with atleast one more, because like you said, he has already gotten that one, so the pressure is off compared to any previous postseasons.

With that said...

You're typically a pretty sharp guy, so try your best to avoid destroying that impression by making absurd comments. QBs rarely have a lot of impact on personnel decisions and even less often impact defense, special teams, forced turnovers, etc. Inability to win the big one as a measure of QBs makes no sense. Without Shanahan and Alex Gibbs' cut blocking for TD's incredible rushing years, Elway goes down in the annals as unable to perform in the clutch. That's absolutely absurd. Moreover, Joe Montana is not a legend today if he had spent his time in something other than the West Coast O introduced by Walsh. The examples are unending.

I think you should slow down before mentioning him with those big boys. He's HOF for sure, but greatest ever I dont know yet...

whoa....i was simply pointing out that Marino didn't play for the 49ers. it was an if/but situation, has nothing to do with the reality that he didn't, Joe Montana did, they won super bowls, Dan didn't. so in the end, what does it matter to play the "if dan marino played for the 49ers" card....what are you arguing again?

You didn't post rushng stats, which count for a lot. Steve Young would blow Manning and Marino out of the water in this category.

The whole "if ______ played for _______ he would have (or wouldn't have) accomplished _____" theory is just plain annoying. _______ didn't play for ______, so quit saying it.
