Before the season started, everyone knew this was not going to be a great season for us. Most predicting 6-6, etc. Our year was supposed to be next year. Then, we beat Montana and Cincy and everyone started having unrealistic expectations of how good we are. Then, first offensive drive of UF game our best player, who the offense was built around goes out for season. After that our starting QB goes out for majority of the season. We are playing with Matt Simms and Z. Rogers. I don't know what some of you expected to happen. You can't tell me that if we had Bray and Hunter, that it wouldn't have been much closer scores in LSU and Bama. We are playing with very low level talent right at a lot of spots right now. Lets wait until next year when we have a full roster of Dooley's guys to determine how good or bad he is.

I don't think that people assuming that we would play with an average Florida team or thinking we had a real chance to beat a mediocre-at-best Georgia team were thinking unrealistically. The bottom line is, regardless of what you want to say about the staff, the team is not prepared to play 60 minutes of football.

Nobody knows whether Dooley's going to be a decent coach or not. But he just still doesn't have the horses to compete in the SEC.

Nonsense. People can understand he inherited jacksh*t and still separate that from the fact that he has never done anything that would indicate he will win a damn thing. Plenty of people already know he will never win anything here. If the rest of you want to hem and haw on all these issues he has to deal with that is fine but it doesn't change the fact the guy has never won anything.

I disagree. I say the players don't play the second half. They quit two games in a row. Without anyone to replace them yet, nothing he can do

BINGO!!! You win a cookie

We should have hired a proven decent coach to begin with

LK wasn't that and Dooley isn't that!!!!

You mean a proven winner like Rich Rodriguez or Butch Davis? Those guys were as sure a thing as there is in college football and they're both already gone in disgrace.

Everybody needs to stop evaluating coaching hires by comparing it to Bama landing Saban. That was a once-in-a-lifetime, lucky thing -- first Rodriguez turned them down at the last second, and then they just happened to have a NC-winning coach who was sick of the NFL and pining away for college. How often do you get a situation like that?

Tuberville??

Dooley has a 47% win record, you can make up excuses all you want!!!

TTU was in great shape when Tupperware Tomas took over. Leach was fired for the Craig James thing not poor performance. He had just been given a contract extension and a raise.
Again, not a fair comparison.

So? I don't think he's likely to be a great coach either. But the fact is that we can't afford another coaching change right now. We have to get the roster rebuilt first. The roster is the reason we had to settle for a guy from La Tech in the first place; if we don't get that flipped around then we'll be getting somebody else from the minors next time and you guys won't be happy with that either.

Right now it's a no win situation because he will get the roster built up with second rate talent. So it isn't going to matter if the new guy takes over 2 months from now or 3 years from now, he is going to inherit crap.

If someone does not like the fact that our coach cant win and never has..WE CANT SLAM HIM????

If he was winning I wouldn't slam him!!!!!!!!!!

Saban won what in 2nd year??
Meyer won what in 2nd year??
Chizik won what in 2nd year??

Hell even Tommy Tuberville beat the #3 ranked team and is 5-2 in HIS SECOND YEAR!!!

But god forbid anyone slam our coach for not doing better then 47% win ratio!

These are the ones that just done get it. Look at the talent the coaches you named were left with. Dooley has to play freshmen BECAUSE he has too. Fulmer and Kiffin left one heck of a mess. Why do you think all the big name coaches did not want the Tennessee job. They knew it would be bad for 3 or 4 years until they could get us back, and hurt their reputation as a head coach.

Wrong, have you even checked our recruiting? It is going just fine.

Tell us who you wanted hired that would take the job.

Leach for one! A proven winner! Percentage wise!!! And in a Big conference

TT won eight or more games only twice in 23 seasons before Leach. They won at least that many eight times in Leach’s 10 seasons.

Players giving up is not a coaching issue?

You can only tell them so many times. At some point the player must take the onus. They admitted as much last week. How old you address rhe quitting issue? Play walk ons?
