'12 AL DT Justin Shanks

It's easy to be lazy when you're at his level. He dominates pretty much everyone he has to face.

Hopefully, college level practices will bring the best out of him.

so is this guy a lame duck or is HG basically trying to put a rug on our fire?

HG is usually pretty spot on, but like the other poster said, alot of high school prospects get lazy when they dominate regularly. IIRC people talked about A.J. being a bit lazy last year and he's far from it now so you never know.

He just needs to be challenged. When you're twice the size of every OL you go up against, you don't have a ton of motivation to get better. Anyone who watched his game on ESPN saw him dominate at the highest level you can play in high school.

So if UT were able to land kirven and Shanks, does anything think Jacobs would become a welcomed casualty?

Absolutely not. I believe the coaches would do everything in their power to get all three. Our depth is such that there's no way you let a DT, especially a JUCO, become a casualty. But that's JMO

Jacobs is presumably physically ready to play from Day 1. I think it will take Kirven at least a year. He's only 260 right now. Jacobs should be the #1 priority and if we don't get Jacobs, then we are probably offering Daniel McCullers (sic) another Juco DT.

Hubbs has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to scholarship limits. He's been wrong ever year about how many Tennessee has to give.

Keep an eye on this guy. He is one of the guys committed elsewhere that the staff has stayed in touch with and sold on being a part of rebuilding the program. Shanks and O'Brien will go a long way towards solidifying our interior defensive line.

sounds like you know something here....

You wonder in situations like this if they help the kids get grants so that even if they're not on a scholorship, they're helping them get a free ride?
